One billion dollars moved out of bitcoin wallet which was inactive for 5 years

How are you internet based coin nerds not talking about this?

Tldr, account with over 69K BTC that has been dormant for 5 years wakes up and transfers it all.

Tine I used to think you were the BTC savant. Now I wonder where you're moving your $1B in BTC.

Edit: First time I read it they assumed it was someone tied to silk road. Just reread and it looks like the San Fran US attorneys office has the dough. Never miiinnnnd nothing to see here.

yeah its the feds accessing a silk road wallet and is generally considered the catalyst behind the big leap in value.

Not that I'm doubting this, and you might be correct, but...

Is there any evidence it's the feds? Or just a good guess?

Story became much less interesting when it turns out it's just civil forfeiture.

Funny enough, because BTC has split into 4 coins since 2015, the feds got identical amounts of all 4 coins (BTC, BCH, BSV, BTG).

Fittingly, the billion bucks is going into a fund which, among other things, trains agents how to identify more bitcoin to seize.

The seizure is about 0.4% of all bitcoin.
