Terrorist planned to hit Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa Bay, kill 50 people (update: not exacty)

    https://www.casino.org/news/hard-roc...mass-shooting/

23-year-old Muhammed AI-Azhari was arrested on May 24, after telling undercover FBI that he planned to hit Seminole Hard Rock Tampa at reopening, hoping to kill at least 50 people.

He planned to do this in the name of ISIS.

He had already purchased weapons for the occasion, but authorities had been monitoring him and had tricked him into communicating with them.

Had this been successful, it would have been a huge story. Thankfully it wasn't.

Not one other publication listed on google regarding this story. Not even a local Tampa Station/Paper. I know things are absolutely crazy right now but I find that pretty ridiculous. It is reassuring that our Intelligence /Counter-Terrorism efforts are effective. This guy pretty clearly not sophisticated at all but still great to see. I guess this is about the most positive news we can see nowadays.

Looks like the article I found was clickbait, and not entirely accurate.

    Here's the indictment: https://www.justice.gov/usao-mdfl/pr...78936/download

    Here's some relevant parts:

A court-authorized physical search of AL-AZHARI’s Google email account revealed that on February 28, 2020 at approximately 5:55 p.m., Google Maps was used to view the Landau Seminole Hard Rock, which is part of a hotel and casino in Tampa.

    .
Audio from court-authorized electronic surveillance on May 16, 2020, at approximately 3:10 a.m., revealed that AL-AZHARI was heard saying, “The busiest beach in Miami…the busiest [inaudible]….the busiest beach.” Approximately three minutes later, his cell phone logged the following search terms in maps: “FBI” and “central intelligence.” At approximately 3:44 a.m., ALAZHARI was heard rehearsing the following phrase: “Hello America. Today is your emergency. Today we kill from you like you kill from us. Know America, today is your emergency, today we fight you in your own country.”
The only mention of Seminole Tampa was the line about his search on February 28 -- two weeks BEFORE any lockdowns.

Looks like by May 16, he had evolved into wanting to hit "the busiest beach in Miami".

Yeah I live near Tampa and I did see this article on our local newspaper's site last week...no mention of the casino in here...either way though it's good they got the guy off the streets! I do take the family to the beach every once in a while.
