Smart people don't talk to cops. Nothing good comes from talking to cops and they can twist your words around or you can incriminate yourself. It's almost entirely downside with almost no upside. All it will do is potentially complicate things down the road for BJ.

People say that he fled the scene to daddy as if that was a bad move but it makes perfect sense to me. With one other guy still somewhere on the scene, potentially armed, and potentially more people he didn't see, I would be getting the hell out of that area ASAP and daddy and lawyer seem like a much better destination than some random McDonalds/whatever. He went to the best possible place.

Smart people know that your lawyer is there to help you and fight for you. Smart people know that cops are not there to help you and cops owe you nothing.

Result? BJ got the best outcome possible. This could've dragged on a lot longer and became much more complicated if he started to blabber out his story in the heat of the moment to the cops. On the other hand, the guy who talked to the cops - probably without a lawyer - got the worst outcome possible.

you are correct; but this is not how 99.9% of the population thinks.

this had nothing to do w/ the selling of guns as some have speculated. it was either bad timing or a drug deal gone bust, imo.

Tales Out of Tulsa, which if I remember correctly was written before Bobby hit it as big exec, is a telling read.

Great book and Bobby Baldwin has a tremendous amount of gamble.

His son, if anything like his dad, could of literally been up to anything in that parking lot.

Innocently loitering in a fast food parking lot at 2am, as a soon of a multi, multi-millionaire for no reason seems hard to believe.

Is it really that strange for someone to be grabbing a burger at In n Out at 1:15am and eating it while still warm in the parking lot? I'm a night owl so this seems a perfectly fine plan. Not a lot of things are open at 1:15am in Vegas, especially on April 22 during quarantine. Unless this area is super sketchy and normal people do not go into this area, I don't think there is a need for conspiracy theory to explain a late-night burger run.

Most rich kids don't need to go to ghetto parking lots to buy their drugs. They have safe and vetted ways to get drugs, including willing friends putting their ass on the line for them.

I quickly looked up Baldwin and while he is a big name, it's not like he is some billionaire. Only 2M in cashes and estimated worth of 15-20M. Rich, but not rich enough to be completely isolated from society.

Two of my friends - both with similar net worths - got car jacked at gun point when they had a night out in a "transitional" DC neighborhood a few years ago and were just hanging out on the street, posing with their expensive cars. It's not like rich people don't eat burgers, drive cars, get stuck in traffic, whatever. Most of their daily lives are pretty similar.

Bobby Baldwin’s net worth is almost certainly higher than 20MM.

But I definitely agree that it’s extremely unlikely this was a drug deal gone bad as he would’ve had much less risky ways to obtain drugs.

You realize poker is a hobby for BB right? You know he was the CEO of Mirage Resorts before the merger with MGM? And later after being the leading force in charge of city center, he became the CEO of Aria?

In 2010 alone, his compensation was 10 million. In 2006 he sold 23 million dollars of Mirage Resorts Stock.

Also, not so much during the pandemic obviously but that withstanding, a significant portion of the city not including casinos are open at 1:15 am on any day of the week in Vegas.

Besides your grocery stores, and fast food restaurants, you have 275+ bars and taverns that are open 24 hours a day. China town, west of the strip, has tons of restaurants that are open to as late as 6am with some being 24 hours.

It would be Interesting to know but I wonder actually if Vegas has more late night and 24 hour businesses (not counting casinos) than any other city in the US.
