i'd imagine doug is very much playing the long game here. getting the amount of legally required signatures considering the average voter in the last election was like 75 yrs old and is now likely dead or on a ventilator is a LONG SHOT, like SS said.
but with the attention he will get from this, he may actually have a semi decent shot at the next general election. not sure if he's required to live in Las Vegas proper or not, considering he currently resides in Henderson, but i doubt that'd end up being a serious roadblock for him.
like him or not, the guy is very media savvy, and has a lot of resources to make a run at it if he wanted to

“They” in this case doesn’t exist. Because Las Vegas wasn’t “split up” by anyone. What happened is that back in the day when the area was much less built up, many newer casinos were built outside the Las Vegas city limits and then resisted attempts by city officials (if there were any) to have their land annexed by Las Vegas.

You might want to see the twitter thread I sent to Doug it pretty much sums up the facts of the situation and why he’s wasting his time. Short version I told him he’s wasting his time becuase pretty sure since Goldman is basically a Democrat and they’ve been more cautious and tight assed about reopening stuff that my guess for her to say what she did was due to a fire being lit under her ass by the Casino employees union who likely told her she needed to push to reopen stuff otherwise they might very soon do what Doug is doing and likely would succeed They are akin to the old Tammany Hall political machine in NYC back in the 19th into the 20th century. (See Gangs of NY for a further explanation).
If Doug thinks he can beat the Casino Union in his recall endevour I wish him good luck. He has zero chance likely to get the sigs and even if he does the election will be a slam dunk. She crushed the last election she ran winning 85% of the vote I believe it was.

They make it very difficult to find information on the union in Las Vegas and what they might possibly want. Thankfully I ran across an obscure 8th-tier poker forum after hours of digging and found this thread.

When you read something like that, with all the unions demands for safety and hurdles they’re insisting be cleared for opening, some might ask themselves, “is it possible maybe they really don’t want to open up right now and are enjoying the time off from being constantly exposed to a deadly virus while making similar money from unemployment and the government assistance and watching Netflix?”
Not you. You see through that and can clearly see that it’s all a ploy to force her hand to open up quickly and that they truly desire to be a control group for all of us. Who wouldn’t want that?
That’s union 101. First page of the manual clearly states that the unions mission is to forget safety and to forget that they work in a Petri dish environment, but to remember that the corporations who own those casinos are led by sensitive men and they need to do their part to open as quickly as possible despite having months left of government money getting sent to them every week.
I expect Doug to now scrap this entire endeavor given your opinion that it’s futile.
Clearly it won’t fail because it’s extraordinarily difficult to collect the right nearly 7k elderly voter signatures during a pandemic. Trying to locate the right voters in a sea of nearly 700k eligible voters is the easy part. The hard part is trying to combat the Machiavellian maneuvers of the union pressuring this poor woman to rush this entire process despite all evidence that they’re doing the exact polar opposite of that.
When the union came out immediately after the interview and slammed her comments and said she’s outrageous and dangerous, that would fool a lot of people and make them think the union wasn’t exactly thrilled with her. That ruse isn’t fooling puppymonkeybaby though. He sees right through that.
Much like many people speak about Trump, I’ve heard quite a few people say that no one understands the internal fabric of the Democratic Party and it’s relationship with organized labor quite like puppymonkeybaby does. Many people are saying that. (See I am Sam for a further explanation)
