Funny enough I heard of Tik Tok before most others did, because I kept seeing ads for it on this one iPhone game I was playing. I thought, "This thing looks stupid, but I wonder if it will catch on with the kids", and indeed it did. Oh, and it might be Chinese spyware.
I do think it's funny how the Chinese owners gave a quiet directive to management to delete videos by "ugly people" and "old people" because they wanted their platform to look young and cool. Once this leaked out, they admitted they did this, but claimed they abandoned that policy already. Yeah, because they blew up huge and didn't need to do that anymore.
