    Anyone laid off?

I am an independent contractor so I guess in theory I am always laid off. But for those that got furloughed what are your job prospects with a 20% unemployment number? I am not flaming, I am just wondering what people are going to do for work? I am looking for ideas, the economy is going to change, and plenty are going to make a lot of money off the change. Remember the founder of McDonald's was basically broke at the age of 52, and went on to build an empire. There are opportunities. Watch the movie The Founder ( Michael Keaton) and you will see what I am talking about.

That McDonald’s n-word should burn in hell for starting fast food and killing everyone.

Are you getting more or fewer plumbing jobs recently?

I would guess fewer because people don't want you coming in their house. That's why I fixed my own drain clog issue despite it being a pain in the ass.

The look of wonder on an 8 year old boy’s face when you explain that 2000 gallons of poop is about to be vacuumed into that truck.

    It’s magical.

Things are going to get a lot worse.

I hope you are not paying the rent.

Even if you can afford to don't.

The county offices that handles evictions has been closed by the Governor in almost every state.

They are not going to re-open anytime soon.

    This may continue for years.

If the Governor re-opens county offices that handle evictions, there will be 10 to 15 times the number of homeless in your state.

If you really want to pay rent, set the money aside in your bank.

Landlords cannot charge late fees during this time.

Once the Govenor allows evictions to proceed again, which could be years from now, then decide if you want to pay.

You may not want an eviction on your record.

But do you want to give them $20K to $30K or more?

    Fuck these landlords.

    They are pieces of shit.

    Welcome to the team.

Or you can do what I did and work out a deal for the market value of the place. This way both parties win.

My place only wanted to do the deal for May and June and not July since they thought things would be better. You best believe that come end of June Im going to ask to renew the rent at 75% current rate which is very generous right now.

Cause they are taking rent payments even though some aren't paying their mortagages?

What’s that have to do with the contract you signed with them? Also, you just made that shit up.

I got laid off March 10, when the mayor of Boston shut down all commercial construction projects. Been collecting unemployment insurance, and healing up long term nagging injuries since that date.

Proper PPE/new safety standards are being negotiated at the moment, although I dont expect to be returning anytime soon.

Still paying rent, and will continue for the time being. We own a home outside the city, will move there if the plague continues indefinitely.

Only 50% of people are paying the rent in NYC.

You should be able to re-negotiate the rent to 50% of your current rate.

Governor Andrew Cuomo is not going to allow evictions to take place in New York State for years.

Most landlords are piece of shit that may try to trick you into repairing stuff in your apartment or house at your expense. If your renting, the landlord is suppose to fix stuff for free.

Before the last recession, I found out my neighbor was paying $300 less in rent than I was, for a house that was exactly the same. Fuck’em.

Never heard of of landlords asking tenants to repair things themselves. I have never done that nor has anyone asked me to do the same.

Both my roommates are paying the rent so I doubt that's true. Like I said, I will reevaluate in June and see what can be done but paying 100% of rent this year is definitely not happening.

As for the neighbor paying less, that's on you dog. That's like being upset cause one dealership gave a better deal to some shmuck, while you paid sticker price. lol
