Hi-Li is a proven method for card counting. This has been proven over and over again by the best math minds in the world. Other than yourself, I don't know a single person that disputes if Hi-Li is an effective strategy for card counting.
How would you explain all the card counters that have pulled six figures, year in year out? Running good Luck? Luck? It is Neither of these. Property playing Hi-Li is an effective +EV strategy.
Many players do go broke counting cards, but this is not due to Hi-Li not be effective. Numerous other reasons such as Incorrect play, incorrect bet sizing, under funded, bad variance are common reasons to go busto.

Yes, there are always ways you can improve a count slightly. You can use EOR (Effect of Removal) and play nearly a perfect game. Hi-Li by itself is very effective. Anything that is added to it to gain between .001 to .1% is up to the player and if it's worth keeping side counts for such a small additional advantage.
