Also are there odds anywhere where you can take the field against the sundowners?

Biden may not hang on and I wouldn't rule out any outcome with Trump.

I have been on record as being disgusted with the Dem field back before the first debates started. Like if we just had any youthful generic Dem who could form a coherent sentence I feel like we are -500 faves right now. We have a guy giving two hour long displays of mental illness on tv for a month during a once in a century pandemic and we aren’t even sure we have the mentally sharper candidate. That’s fucking amazing incompetence on the Dem side.

i really dont know how to explain it, except that somehow the dnc managed to deliberately weed out every single straight white male under 60 because.... inclusiveness.

i was talking to my mom earlier tonight about selling my house and leaving the country in the next year because the lunatics are in total control of the asylum and im not going to die choking on radioactive ash over it. and although my principle motivation was a trump re-election, im not sure a biden win takes that plan off the table. least of all because im guessing some long island hedge fund cunt would pay 4x what i paid for this house considering its a literal pandemic proof bunker.

I had a conversation with a buddy of mine yesterday morning. It’s easier to just copy and paste it. For some context, we had talked about how disgusting the Dem field was. Our general disgust at Trump and the political landscape. We were talking previously about a former acquaintance his family has remained close to for years. He met him through education connections when he was a young 18 year old student.

He became a house rep. Was Harry Reid’s star pupil and favorite. State soccer player of the year and Latino and elected as US rep. Kid was just a star from the jump.

He got the hots for some staffer and just blew his career up. He couldn’t have been president because he was born in Mexico, but he was a legit political star who wasn’t going anywhere at 35 or so. Had the whole Dem machine behind him and then career just gone. We were talking about Bill Clinton. I said he’d be dead the water nowadays with me too movement. Also my buddy has a brother in law in jail for child porn charges, so that’s what I’m referencing. He isn’t a fan of this brother in law, hopes he does the full stretch, so it isn’t like it’s a touchy subject. I’m just copy and pasting it because it’s in a similar vein to your response. That was my advice for his daughter who is halfway done with her undergrad and was a national merit scholar level student. She had spent time abroad schooling in London. She really liked it. Not that they aren't having their own mini- Trump moment over there presently, or that our problems are necessarily unique. Just far worse here and the idiocy is more profound.

Anyway, I was responding to a tweet he sent me from David Simon, which is why it starts that way. I removed his daughters name and added your daughter for obvious reasons

Simon is brilliant. I’m sure this will be a long rant as the isolation makes you think too much.

There is a point every day where I sit back and ask myself how it came to this point so quickly?

I knew most people were dumb. That’s simply reality. I was aware of that. I lived among them my entire life. I considered it like being black or white or tall or short. Largely genetic. I never sat around hating stupid people. I generally felt bad for them. It’s like hating someone for being short or black. It’s beyond their control.

So I think about what has changed? I truly think the internet and then eventually social media is the nexus for the downfall of culture. It’s this fantastic invention that connects people. Like anything inanimate, it’s fundamentally neutral. It can be used for good or bad.

I think to myself if you’re a pedophile, or just some sicko like your brother in law was, you can find like-minded people. Forty years ago, he probably never acts on those urges. Maybe he would have, that has always been endemic, but maybe not? Either way, his sickness would have been isolated to his circle of people that he interacted with in real life.

I would guess his initial depravity was fed by there being a community of those out there who could provide further stimuli for his emerging illness and you feel less sick when you find others who also have your sickness. You don’t think to yourself I need to get this under control or seek a mental health remedy or simply live and die sick, but largely isolated and damaging only those around you.

This extends to all of culture and pretty much anything.

Basically any idiocy you can think of, you can find others who share your strangeness now. Before you would keep your nonsense to yourself and get laughed at by your family or someone smart or your family was stupid. but you didn’t influence others. Your stupidity wasn’t metastatic beyond your small circle. It invaded only who you knew.

If you have aberrant thoughts, or you’re simply stupid and believe every conspiracy theory and fringe political thought, you can now find a community out there to foster your road to complete imbecility.

It’s not dissimilar to terrorism or anything else. Your stupidity is actually radicalized by others and we arrive at a Donald Trump. When stupidity finds more stupidity, stupidity is emboldened. Strength in numbers.

A Trump doesn’t occur before the internet. Those dumb people wouldn’t have rallied together. There wasn’t a mechanism for those who wished to profiteer off the stupid or cause political dissension and discord to reach them and manipulate them. Now they are herded like cattle. Unfortunately we have to live in the same world though, where we are subject to their idiocy. It’s truly dark times.

When does something that is on a downward trajectory ever revert? It’s not like a bad neighborhood in Manhattan. It’s like a bad neighborhood in Youngstown. There is no gentrification forthcoming to the mentality of our populace. There isn’t going to be something that elevates this condition. That’s a glass half-empty thought, but once something has metastasized, it’s game over. You don’t know when, but the if is no longer in question.

For all the increased knowledge over the course of the last few hundred years, go read the discourse during the period of our founding. I’m sure you could probably quote it given how much time you spent teaching it and in DC. Do we have a single person on that level, let alone a community of them? We had a coalition of men thinking at a very high level with a fraction of our population.

Our very brightest don’t approach their insight. Reading something even from the 1970s now seems like it’s high-minded.

So to what end is all our advancement if the end result is a society that lacks even basic critical thinking skills? I can’t find one. This is obviously a much greater problem on the right. I see a lack of critical thinking on both sides though. It’s why I said a Clinton could never emerge now. Those saying this is a flawed but brilliant guy would be shouted down by the mob. Look how fast Reuben got nuked. He had lI earned a wrist slap, and it was self-destructive and out of line. but not to lose it all.

At least that mob is well-meaning, even if they themselves are dumb and thinking on a low level that is short-sighted.

On the right it’s now a very sinister mob. It’s now a parade of idiots flying a flag of stupidity proudly. An emboldened gathering of the lowest common denominator humans alive.

I don’t see a course reversal. I can’t envision one. It’s much easier to be intellectually lazy . It’s more interesting to believe gibberish than to put in the hard work to wade through all the garbage that is disseminated out there to get to the truth. It requires mental energy to be exercised by the masses. That’s not ever happening. I’m not sure most even have the ability if they were inclined to put in the work. Society has always been one good push from going over the edge.

This is a reality tv world. They are raising the next generation to think like them. I have no real hope. You should encourage your daughter to finish school and move somewhere where she doesn’t have to be ruled by idiots, because that will be the continued trajectory. Even leaders on the left will be weak and diluted versions of what once was.

At our age, I wish covid was instant because it wouldn’t be a bad deal rather than the two week drowning death this thing is. I’m glad we got more than halfway home before this shit. I feel bad for the kids.

I’ll end on that positive note

there's a ton of reasons to think biden won't win, but keep a couple things in mind.

from day one, team retard was convinced that the election will be all about the economy.

well -- and i hope this one is not true for are all of our sakes -- the economy will probably be great depression level bad in november.

even when the stay at home orders are lifted, a ton of the jobs that went under aren't coming back. unemployment will be staggering.

my friend works for a copier repair business in which they were all laid off. the owner is concerned that even after this is over, businesses will realize they no longer need to invest in physical office space so businesses like the copier repair industry will be way less viable.

how does this get tied to trump?

there isn't a fantastic counter to this.

This Joe Biden sexual assault issue is starting to gain steam. The Dems have been on record, "Always believe the woman". Joe is going to have a tough time with this. He is so fucking elderly he is not really going to be able to defend himself. The mother called into Larry King in 1993 to complain a senior Senator assaulter he daughter, so we all know he did it. It will be very interesting to see if he survives this and just quits ang give the nomination to Andrew Cuomo. He is close to being done.

If you believe those numbers than good luck, you can risk your life savings and get a windfall of a lifetime if you are correct. The polls are terribly over-sampled by Democrats, just like in 2016. Trump is still the favorite in the betting markets, there is not one favoring Biden, not one. Internal polls for Trump suggest he is up significantly. I have a few thousand sprayed around, not much because I have no idea which side will wait in line and effectively have a potential death sentence if the virus mutates, death does not scare me personally but a ventilator in a hospital scares the shit out of me.

Why is there not ONE betting market predicting a Biden win? Not one. Do you remember the Clinton polls in 2016? Step up and make a bet. (psst, you won't).

Betting markets don't make "predictions", they assign probabilities which you can agree or disagree with. But PredictIt has Dems as a small favorite.

My personal bookie has it at exactly 50/50.

Because of the electoral college. Those are just polls.

Every election since 2000 has been roughly 50-50. If Barack Obama was on the ballot I'd say he would win in a landslide. But you have an 80 year old senile man who is going to crater. I see no scenario that Trump does not win. There is not one person under the age of 30 that is going to wait in line and vote for a generational failure. I am not sure he will even survive corona when all said and done. He is the worst candidate in the last 50 years, at least since Walter Mondale. And he has been credibly accused of sexual assault which is going to turn off MANY left wingers, remember you must always believe the woman, always. He is actually worse than Hillary Clinton and inspires nobody. If your book is giving you 50-50, drop the house on Trump and make money. I am quite sure he would cap you at $1K though.

    I'm good

That's very true. Trump is a big dog to win the popular vote
Also Russia hasn't started interfering yet.
