Within the first week or two of assuming office, a new President is asked to indicate preferences for his funeral. It’s true.

Reagan began planning his funeral in 1981 and updated the plan annually until 1989.

The body lies in state for 72 hours ... the whole megillah.

There is some part of me that seriously believes our maskless leader isn’t just ignorant of basic science but has a death wish. I would wager anything he thinks about his state funeral a lot

The grand televised exit and immortality like a Kennedy with Barron giving the little salute.

The party would pick the candidate though. Maybe they’d pick those people to run, but they are under no obligation. Iirc, I remember reading a few constitutional law guys, and even after the general election, if a candidate were to die before the electoral college votes in December, it wouldn’t necessarily be the VP.

It likely would, but before the election, I seriously doubt either party would pick Pence or Harris to run for President if the candidate withdrew/died.

I’d bet on Nikki Haley for the GOP. Dems would be trickier, and I’m not sure who, given if we had any good candidates it wouldn’t be Biden.

No, it's not a distraction from the Russian bounty story. Right now, a Trump portraying himself as a racist is much more harmful to his chances than another Russia-related story. If you haven't noticed, racism has been on people's minds a lot in the past month.
Would he lose your support if its confirmed that he turned a blind eye to bounties on the heads of American soldiers?
Would I be upset about that? Yes.

Would it make me think less of his time as President? Yes.

Would it make me vote for a Democrat who is going to likely sit by and let the extreme forces within his party run the show and reshape America to exactly the opposite of what I want? No.

I just said to someone yesterday, "If a Biden Administration would be like the Obama years, it wouldn't be my preference, but it wouldn't be unbearable. But I doubt that will happen. Democrats are controlled by the extreme faction now, and they will probably be running the show."

i'm amazed that after around 50 years on this earth, you think like this. it's like you've never listened to politcians before. they make promises and then don't deliver.

nothing radical will ever happen. probably not in your entire lifetime.

lol at "the extreme faction running the show." if by running the show, you mean advancing literally no leftist bills, you're exactly right.

do you have an example of legislation you think will pass a biden administration? i ask this to judge your sanity.

and the fact that you think career politiciam biden -- of all people -- is the one politician to break out of this and finally start making serious changes is fucking mind boggling.

    i just can't.

I think Biden would be a more corporate and more moderate President than Obama, and Obama really didn’t get anything progressive done beyond ACA, which isn’t all that progressive being the right wing alternative compromise plan to single payer.

The radicals get lip service and nothing else.

That's an incredible thing to admit to yourself, that you would vote for a tyrant allowing the murder of American soldiers to on unchecked over a party that you feel has tilted to far to the extreme.

    Wow.

Why is it an incredible thing to admit?

Voting for a party which will seeks to completely remake the fabric of America, and make radical changes with which I completely disagree, would be incredibly foolish.

The time for "lip service" to the left ended when Biden effectively won the nomination.

Once that occurs, the conventional wisdom is that you start giving lip-service the other way -- to make yourself seem LESS partisan, and attempt to snag votes from swing voters and the other side.

Biden is not doing any of this. While he's not driving the conversation (or any conversation), he's maintaining the same woke rhetoric as before. I don't even think he believes in a lot of what he's saying, but it's become clear that he has neither the energy nor the desire to fight with his own party.

It's surprising to me that you haven't seen how much the Democratic Party has changed in the past 5 years. Many of the insane extreme left positions which would have been laughed at in 2014 are now becoming party dogma today. I've even seen you complain about this.

Pretty much every extreme position coming out of the left today is on the table if Biden wins and the Dems have the House and Senate (which is a very possible scenario now).

The only area we're likely to see resistance is socialized medicine, and that's only because Biden was part of the administration which created our current healthcare system, so he doesn't want that torn down. It's likely he will reluctantly go along with all of the other shit.

I think you're vastly underestimating how powerful the cult of the far left has become -- and how complicit the media has been.

Did you expect laws legalizing abortion at any point for any reason? Major cities with abolished bail, where violent criminals are immediately released after arrest? Transgender 3-year-olds? Rioting and looting not just being permitted, but praised as just and necessary? Full college loan forgiveness at taxpayer expense? Famous people being constantly "cancelled" for (sometimes mild) things they said and did 10-30 years ago? Removing funding from already-cash-strapped big city police departments in favor of already-tried-and-failed social experiments?

I didn't expect any of this, but here we are. The above has either become reality or is seriously being discussed.

I'm not voting for a President who is refusing to make it clear that he won't support any of this crap.

A sitting president knowingly allowing a bounty program on the heads of American soldiers is 100x more radical than any leftist agenda and would completely remake the fabric of America from functioning democracy to autocratic dictatorship.

    Yes?
