Another pandemic shutdown sporting event. Truly nutty, if you ask me.

Not a lot of highlights from this summer, just long walks, lots of movies, lots of cooking and eating and drinking and smoking, and a lot of quality time outside with my cat. There is one thing, tho, that has been a lot of fun.

Right before baseball season started, a friend of mine bought a cheap projector and a chromecast for it. Friday and Saturday nights at his house since then have been a lot of fun, and a much-needed taste of normalcy, getting to hang out with friends and drink some beers, while we watch stuff on the side of his house. Its anywhere from 3-8 of us, and there's more than enough room in his backyard so we're spaced out more than far enough from each other. The first night we did it was for the Red Sox home opener, which was probably the first and last highlight of the current Sox season.

Most nights when there's no baseball, we watch something I never would have thought I'd be watching in olden times, but the end of the world changes minds sometimes, and human contact is more important than my high falutin ideas of what good or bad TV is (or was). The first half of the night we watch The Bachelor season recaps, because that's what the girls want to watch, then we watch new or old fights after. Despite myself, I must say, those Bachelor best of's are fun to watch when you can heckle and make jokes and shit like that, and since we watch on Hulu, there's no ads and its over in like an hour 20, as opposed to 2 hours or whatever. Best way for me to describe it is I feel like when we used to tailgate before games, sometimes there'd be a chick there who was all about the tailgating, and put up with the football part because that's what you have to do to be at the tailgate. She gets the gist of the game, and will enjoy it enough, but don't ask her who #88 is, or why illegal motion was called or whatever. I'm that girl in this scenario. I know how the show works, I can't remember a single name of any of the contestants, but I enjoy it enough when I'm watching it and drinking with people I want to be around.

Once that's over, we turn to the UFC if its on, or we watch older fights, mma or boxing. Prince Naseem, Hagler-Hearns, old Tyson, PRIDE fights, shit like that. Sometimes they put the screen up, sometimes we just watch it right off the house itself, doesn't really matter, we're all there for the hang anyway, not theater-quality video.

Sometimes they make food, sometimes I make food, sometimes we order pizza, sometimes we just drink. Don't matter. I'd recommend a set-up like this to anyone who has the space to do it. Bunch of chairs in the yard, people who live together sit together, otherwise we sit ~8-10 feet apart. I'm pretty sure the projector we use was just around $120, $130 or so, and its worth to us this summer has been off the charts. Highly recommended.

I have a old car that's been sitting in my garage for 25 years, tried to start it and ya big mistake, luckily i didn't blow up the motor but sprayed rusty water everywhere. Brakes were so fucked the car wouldn't budge and 25 year old fuel gummed up the pump and filter, brake lines, fuel lines, water hoses, pretty much every thing rubber on the car was cracked and useless. exhaust system and emergency brake cable was falling off, replaced cam seals and crank seal. We were in California when the border was closed and upon arrival back to Vancouver we were instructed to quarantine for two weeks…. sure no sweat I have plenty of booze and weed and being a born tinkerer i have plenty to do around the house and garage were i keep my herb. which ends up playing a big part in my experience… ordered the parts i needed from a company in USA and in two days had all the stuff i needed to get started. I am no were near finished I will redo the interior 8k ugg so next year for that. also maybe new wheels when the border reopens international shipping is a peach.
so it runs and stops great now stays at correct temp c190 even after tear to whistler and back. bought some new tools i needed for the job always like that.
if this is interesting i could elaborate a bit more but it ended up taking a month of weekends still even after our quarantine was over.

a few shots of the mess…
