Let the Virgin gay guy take a look for instance.

You know nothing of Gov Reagan, do you? Socialist California during your formative years damaged you
You mean "socialist California" which, at the time, had reasonable sales, gasoline, and property taxes and low income tax?

I'd like that California -- and Governor Reagan - back.
You probably weren’t aware of your surroundings during Reagan.

You probably became an aware adult during Brown

Only way I can reconcile eagerness to bail out cruise lines.

Also, I don't really want to see a major change in the cruise industry. I'd like to see a few modifications -- better medical care onboard, and elimination of the scammy mandatory tips which the line just pockets. I'd also like to see them stop with the bullshit restrictions which started a few years ago regarding bringing your own drinks onboard. Nowadays, even if you're carrying a water bottle back from a port, they confiscate it (and not for safety/hygienic reasons).

However, the smart consumer can use cruises as a great value way to conveniently travel, especially to islands or other places which are difficult or impossible to reach. If you book at the right time (late), arrange your own shore excursions, avoid spending much money onboard (except for speciality dining), and avoid the fail casino (except for the blackjack tournament), you can get a nice vacation for cheap. If you know the dumb things to avoid doing (such as stuffing a family of 4 into an inside cabin), you can have a pleasant experience.

I don't want to see that change. I don't want a situation where they change the entire model and the best stuff about cruising goes away.

I think the experience has become aggregator site low bid trash. I’ve stated before my last cruise was my last cruise.

The resort fees you find in Vegas find a cruise ship parallel with tip-scamming and never ending up sell and on board hustle. Lousy experience.

Branson or someone else might be bold enough to bolt some parts onto his brand which has never been low bid.

I think it all needs a restart. Healthy thing

Correct me if im wrong San but what rescue are you talking about? Most Iíve seen is theybgetting rent for a month or two as a floating hotel for the government while on hiatus. No bail out, no loans..... what am I missing?

    Druff’s going bailout.

    Correct me if I’m wrong

I harbor (lol) some small fear of the Fed accidentally electrocuting us. Serious. My how TARP & QE is so much easier this time around. People had grave misgivings before and it was always assumed that it would be paid back - the national debt

    That cruise ship has sailed.

I didn't say bail them out.

Go back to my earlier post.

I said that, if anything is to be done, it would be a loan with a US-flag condition. If they don't want that, let 'em burn.

In short, casino is shit for the most part. Bad machines, bad BJ rules, etc.

Poker 10% rake as you mentioned.

BJ tournament has such a big edge for players with a clue that you can usually overcome rake. It's done by a leaderboard. They have it posted. You wait until 2nd to last round to enter, then bet enough to catch the last person on leaderboard. Often it will be low and you can just minbet most of the way and let your opponents hang themselves. Sometimes they only take one leader from each table, and if there aren't enough tables to fill the leaderboard, you just min bet until someone gets way ahead.

Then at final table do same min betting strategy until someone gets ahead.

There's a lot of variance and usually only one winner, but usually entry is $20 and prize is $500. So if you win more than 4% of the time, which you will, it's +EV.

    Thanks Druff. That's pretty cool.

My only issue would be the time value of money (ballin!) but this is good advice.

Donít bail out the cruise industry

Trump said itís a Ďprime candidate,í but there are plenty of reasons not to

Coronavirus pandemic tests clout of cruise industry and its long-standing ties to Trump

10 dead, over 800 test positive in coronavirus outbreaks on Princess cruises, CDC says

They should use it in their advertising.

    From: Norwegian Cruise Line

    Date: 03/30/2020

Your safety is our #1 priority—both on and off our ships. Due to the current global environment, we are extending the suspension of all sailings across our fleet through May 10, 2020 and plan to relaunch cruise operations with embarkations beginning May 11, 2020. We are thinking of each and every one of you, and together we will return to our favourite place - the ocean, stronger than ever.

Guests who were booked on suspended cruises will automatically receive a 125% or 150% refund of their cruise fare in the form of a Future Cruise Credit which can be applied towards any Norwegian Cruise Line voyage through December 31, 2022. Future Cruise Credits will be applied to your account by April 1, 2020.

    Emabrkation date refunds:
    March 13 to March 17, 2020 - 150% of cruise fare
    March 18 to May 10, 2020 - 125% of cruise fare

We’re also giving an additional 20% discount when you book by April 14, 2020 using your Future Cruise Credit on cruises embarking July 1, 2020 - December 31, 2022! This discount will be automatically applied when you book online.

Guests who do not prefer to take advantage of a future cruise credit will receive a refund to be payable after 90 days from completion of the Refund Form below. Refund requests must be submitted by April 27, 2020 for all suspended sailings.

Please note that if your suspended sailing was scheduled to embark between April 12 - May 10, 2020, you will not be able to request your refund through this form until April 13, 2020.
LOL at the 90 day refund thing. Also LOL @ demanding that you submit a refund by April 27, even if your suspended cruise is on May 10! Negative checkoff scam, anyone?

I'm arguing with morons on Facebook who think that this is reasonable.

Some moron actually thinks it's "fraud" to charge this back on your credit card rather than wait the 90 days. A lot of sheep have a hard time going against what big companies tell them to do.

Booking cruises has gone up for the year 2021.

People see infections spreading everywhere and see prices go down and think, I'm dying to go on a cruise.

I sure Druff is already booked for next year.

I like cruises, but this industry is fucking dead probably forever. Who in their right mind would go on a ship where they could instantly be quarantined for weeks at a time? Not me. The rooms are about the same size as a prison cell. The only reason you go on a cruise is because of the ship itself. If you are locked in your room there is no point.

    XFactor, prices haven't gone down.

The "increased bookings" for 2021 are misleading. That's people who got credit (instead of refunds) booking with their credit. The cruise lines are getting very few new bookings for real money, nor are the prices discounted at the moment for that reason (they'd rather rip of the idiots with credit).

Got a email from NCL yesterday talking about huge discounts esp if you pay in cash non refundable.

Alaska in July was still $1600 per person balcony. Lol.

Iím obviously bullish on CCL stock as we have texted and posted on - but the industry is really going to have to re baseline some of these rates if they expect people to book anything the rest of 2020 or early 2021...... dare I say they need to run it at a loss

CDC issues indefinite no-sail order for cruise ships.

Except NCL/CCL/RCL stocks to take a beating on Monday (it's closed tomorrow).

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/new...?ocid=msedgdhp

    Cliffs:

They can't sail until the Dept of Health and Human Services say that COVID-19 no longer constitutes a public health emergency (likely not until 21), OR the CDC director rescinds the order (probably not for a long time), OR 100 days from the order's official publication passes (but then another order can be handed down).

So we are looking at what appears to be July or later until cruising happens again, and likely much longer.

    Here's the full order: https://www.cdc.gov/quarantine/pdf/N...-encrypted.pdf
