didn't read article, but there is the federal WARN act which has exceptions, but his lawyers should have "warned" him of this risk and simply given 60 day notices and pay; it would have been much cheaper than what this is going to cost. whatever.

I know the media is setting the narrative that this is all about Musk, but lets not forget in the real world once he realized what he was getting into, Musk tried to back out of the offer. And it is the very people he supposedly "owned" (eg Vijaya, Parag) who are the ones who forced him to follow the deal so they could cash out big, and leave the rest of the employees holding the bag.

Twitter was a failed business. They never had a year in the black. They were bloated with overpaid useless employee's. It's going to take some time but Musk is going to streamline it and turn it into a profit maker. He's what they never were, a real businessperson.
