2018 WCOOP winner "wann2play" on Pokerstars disqualified 18 months later -- but who is it?

    Timeline:

Sept 2018: Mysterious Dutch player "wann2play" wins the WCOOP for $1.35m on Pokerstars: https://en.clubpoker.net/wann2play-w...-million/n-948

July 2019: A Twitter user claims that wann2play was multi-accounting in the tournament, and is a "well known pro", and debates outing him.

February 2020: wann2play is disqualified and money confiscated. Everyone is moved up a place in the tournament.

    So who is/was wann2play?

He is listed as being from The Netherlands. The tweet from 2019 claims he's a "well known pro". Any guesses?

Noah Boeken is most likely culprit from that list.

He was one of the original multi accouters. Back in like 2005ish he got caught multi tabling and winning the TLB under Marcel Lusks account, 'El Captin'. There was more to it, and I think some future dramas. I can't remember the details though (maybe he was a stars pro at the time?) I think Gank originally called him out.

Edit: Looks like it was NOT Noah Boeken

Look what I found: WCOOP 2018: Results

Has anyone else brought up his name? I was literally just taking a blind stab from the hendon mob dutch players list...

    edit:

Noah played in WCOOP 2019, so he either didn't get caught for a whole year, or he didn't get caught, or he wasn't involved.

Looks like wann2play managed to play a single mtt a few weeks after his score. Doesn't really make sense. You'd think he'd have most of the million off there by then. And why would it take Stars nearly 1.5 years to adjust the payouts?

Jungleman has accused Noah of letting Antonius play on his stars account also. (the hitman talk is nothing I think)

Technically, I'm a multi-accounter on Party Poker back in the day. I had an account on 1 of their skins, Empire, before Party took them over & they fucked me out of a bunch of player points & made a new account on Party not knowing how it all worked. I later realized it was Party that fucked me over those points but I was doing too well on the site to abandon it on principal.

Unless he entered that tournament multiple times under different accounts like Justin Bonomo used to do, I see no problem.

    from pokerstrategy:

"No official word on the nature of the cheating that took place but new champion Ezequel Waigel told PocketFives that he suspected something was not right at the final table and even went through his hand histories afterwards, as well as spoke to PokerStars security about it over several months."

According to the rumors that I’ve heard an American pro was using this Dutch account via VPN while being ghosted by another American pro. So clearly pretty bad on multiple levels. Unfortunately this is just the sad reality of highstakes online MTTs today.

    Thanks Daniel.

Any rumors yet on which American pro did it?

As I said on the radio show, I thought perhaps the guilty party wasn't Dutch, and I thought the Noah Boeken thing was a red herring, since he wasn't disqualified.

I don't know anything about who the pro is, however I do know that as part of the investigation somebody from Pokerstars flew to Netherlands to meet with the person registered to the account.

It turns out the person registered to the account is near to blind and incapable of playing online poker and certainly not to a high level or redeeming his 25k tournament ticket.

That's hilarious. Great first post after being registered here 7 years, by the way!

Im a lurker from the UK, been listening since Travis Makar episode on Donk Down.

love the show but usually have to listen in the "archives"

Also, I can probably find out who the pro is but might take a day or two, stay tuned...
