    City of San Diego deploys bots.

    This is not good.


    The robot has 360-degree, high-definition cameras. It records audio and video and can read up to 300 license plates per minute. It's also capable of recording your phone's IP address if a crime is committed.

    Did Shapiro actually say that? That is perhaps the single dumbest thing I have read on the subject of AI.

    All tech - not “pretty much all” - was a human creation.

    The aim of articial intelligence is NOT to be an imitator of human intelligence. This is just country fucking dumb.

    Reposting this Shapiro drivel deserves a tomato @some user but considering your patented “Shapiro to text” convertor is literally my only exposure to the little oddball a red would not be right.

    Have they allowed enough bandwidth for bolting on a facial recognition module?

    I’d wait for the maturation of 5G before rolling this stuff out myself.

    Will California be the first with social credit scores? Think the Progressive driving app @desertrunner.

    What kind of California social credit rewards program would you and Druff be entitled to? I’ll wager Druff would be Diamond before you

    Commerce and Bike already deploy similar bots which patrol the casinos.

    I'm not sure exactly what they do. They are not equipped with any weapon.

    My guess is that they scan people for weaponry and quietly alert human security. They also probably have all the faces of people banned, and report anyone violating those bans as well.

    Commerce also uses a service bot for delivering food, but seemingly only in the high limit room, as I believe the other room is too cramped for the bot to move around, and it's also sunken and would require the bot to traverse a fairly narrow ramp.

    The service bot is funny because it yells, "Coming through!!" when someone gets in its way.

    Unfortunately, since the Commerce menu is now greatly reduced, and the food no longer free (or cheap), food orders have way declined. The food situation used to be the best thing about playing at Commerce.

    At least the bot won't expect a $5+ tip for dropping your order on a side table and leaving. The servers there did, and some would grimace if you gave them $4 or less.
