this...... is promising.
they replaced jihad with crusade because americans are emotionally retarded and im not saying this project is ruined for me but man do i have some thoughts about that.

Can guarantee it will do more than $7.25 opening weekend. $19.99 of they get to include popcorn sales.
if we're gonna glass half full this, there was a single use of the term "crusade" in the first book describing the Fremen wave doing their thing, though that's as opposed to a few dozen uses of jihad for various reasons. I'm cool with them using crusade in the commercial if they revert back to the traditional language of the book for the bulk of the movie. Not the best omen, it is a small one, but maybe it's not so small when considering how carefully I assume Frank picked each major term he used in his books?
Either way, gonna be better than any of that stinkin' Star Wars junk.
ill have to re-read the first book, the context of who said it means everything here.
but yeah there are 11 different arabic meanings for the word jihad and none of them really have anything to do with the meaning of the word 'crusade', and herbert was super vocal about how the fremen were based on arab culture & islam.

"Limits of survival are set by climate, those long drifts of change which a generation may fail to notice. And it is the extremes of climate which set the pattern. Lonely, finite humans may observe climatic provinces, fluctuations of annual weather and, occasionally may observe such things as “This is a colder year than I’ve ever known.” Such things are sensible. But humans are seldom alerted to the shifting average through a great span of years. And it is precisely in this alerting that humans learn how to survive on any planet. They must learn climate."

Dune pushed back until 10/01/21.
questionable.... there is a massive backlog of blockbusters that are going to have to be released soon. plus who knows how many theaters are going to be in business in late 2021.
on the bright side, dune the sisterhood might show up on hbomax before this hits theaters, which would be niiiiiiiiice.

Dune was released in 1984.
The special effects were terrible.
Patrick Stewart and Sting were in the movie.
The story was okay and most of the movie made sense.
This new movie has the potential to be better.
test screenings (unfinished mind you) are getting roaring standing ovations.
people are giving it 4/5 to 4.5/5.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group has announced its entire 2021 film slate will open via a “distribution model in which Warner Bros. will continue to exhibit the films theatrically worldwide, while adding an exclusive one month access period on the HBO Max streaming platform in the U.S. concurrent with the film’s domestic release.” The strategy is identical to studio’s upcoming release of “Wonder Woman 1984,” which launches in theaters and on HBO Max for a month on December 25. Following the one-month HBO Max streaming run, all films will continue to play exclusively in theaters “with all customary distribution windows applying to the title.”
Warner Bros. has the following films included on its 2021 slate for now (release dates could change, of course): “The Little Things,” “Judas and the Black Messiah,” “Tom & Jerry,” “Godzilla vs. Kong,” “Mortal Kombat,” “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” “The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It,” “In The Heights,” “Space Jam: A New Legacy,” “The Suicide Squad,” “Reminiscence,” “Malignant,” “Dune,” “The Many Saints of Newark,” “King Richard,” “Cry Macho,” and “Matrix 4.”
