Will that increase Wynn's marketshare for Limit Hold-Em? I like the atmosphere of the Wynn Poker Room but do not play there as I am not a NL cash game player. I hope they spread 4-8 8/16 or 10-20 games.
They should have done this a long time ago, when they first opened the room.
Bellagio, which has dominated the limit hold 'em scene for years, treats its players like crap.
Wynn could have taken their action, but they were underwhelming in terms of doing anything to entice the game to move over.
Poker players are creatures of habit. They don't jump rooms unless there's a real "movement" to do so, and that requires some motivation beyond another high-end room simply opening up.
If I was running a room like the Wynn, I'd run some sort of temporary promotion making the games rake-free, then slowly increase it as I got people used to playing there.
I'm not sure if $2 is going to be enough to bring people over. I guess it depends upon how many grinders are willing to give it a shot instead of Bellagio, Aria, or Mirage. They really need to promote this if they want it to work.
Aria can also learn from this. Aria is a top notch poker room with superior customer service with excellent management and IMO a great up and coming tournament director Mark. They only spread1-3 2-5 and 5-10NL and 12/24 and 300-600Mix. They should at least one 4-8 Hold-Em and Omaha game running during the day. Put it this way pizza is great. However I do not want to eat pizza everyday. Rooms should make it a priority to have a broader selection of games.
