Like most on this forum, I grew up in the AIDS virus, which eventually became HIV when the AIDS term became toxic. We heard for years it would become eradicated with a vaccine. Never happened. My guess is people will just get used to it, and maybe become healthier. Let's face facts, its targeting people who are fat and have pre-existing conditions most notably because of being fat. As far as old people, the life expectancy in this country is 78. We were never designed as a country to have a large swath of people to live until 90. Any day after 80 is a fucking bonus, just the way it is.
Go on a fucking diet if you are fat, you'll live longer and feel better, regardless of corona.
Europeans also have universal health care and strong gun control so if you're saying it's time to take our cues from them, I will gladly trade away masks for those two items.
