I doubt hydroxy Helps, but how did they get the tests done so quickly, I thought they had to be double blind tests with tons of data that takes weeks/months to analyze.

Seems like record time to me.

And why are other countries still using that crap? It’s mostly being used in people with positive tests but asymptomatic, so does it actually help keep them that way or does it really do nothing?

This study was released in July basically concludes, it seems to help but needs a real clinical trial...but ain’t nobody got time for that.

    https://www.nature.com/articles/s41419-020-2721-8

Taken together, given the fast-increasing number of COVID-19 patients and the urgent need for effective and safe drugs in the clinic, CQ and HCQ have potential, but controversial, characteristics to combat pathological inflammation associated with COVID-19. The recommendation CQ and HCQ as a preventive medication for healthy and asymptomatic infected persons48, even for patients experiencing only mild symptoms in the early-stage of SARS-CoV-2 infection because of the immunosuppressive effects of the two drugs will diminish specific antiviral immunity, or as late stages therapeutic, still waits a proper double blind clinical trial. However, HCQ has been hypothesized to help controlling distinct effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection, as described above and compared to CQ, HCQ confers similar antiviral and anti-inflammatory effects while has fewer side effects, indicating HCQ is a more optimal selection for treating COVID-19. Importantly, when HCQ is used to treat COVID-19 patients, individual immune profiles should be thoroughly evaluated and considered. The above consideration offers a clear rational for a systematic evaluation of efficacy at the clinical level.

In a country of 145 million, that’s Oklahoma yesterday. Possibly a second wave, but could be more tests, better tests, some manufacturing defect in a batch of masks, statistical noise, or ?. Either way, they’ll get a grip on it and eradicate it if it is a second wave. It’s the Japs. They will be back to 200 cases in two weeks.

Why do liberals always make excuses for other countries and never afford their own country some benefit of the doubt?

Australia claimed to have “beaten COVId” too and they’re getting smacked around now too. The data is showing that no matter what you do the virus is going to hit every well populated area hard you just have to be prepared for it and do smart things to manage it.

The reason there are less cases in Japan, is 99.9% of the population is Japanese. They follow cultural norms that have existed for 1000 years. If Gramps says wear a mask the whole family wears a mask.

You will never get that in the US, ever. People are going to do what they want, whenever they want. There is a reason why Japan has been in a economic malaise for 30 years, no innovative thinking outside of car production. But it serves them well in a pandemic, but that line of thinking will never work in the US. If someone wants to throw a Covid party they are going to do it, that is just the way it is.

It’s like 1250 cases from the graph. That is legit Oklahoma yesterday.

They had no issue the first wave despite having basically no warning. Of course they get the benefit of the doubt. They aced the fucking test with no warning. Their health system kicks our ass. They are way less fat. They all get on the same page and act responsibly and don’t think wearing a mask or acting reasonable is tyranny. When it comes to shit like this, compare us to the third world. We are far closer to the third world than Japan. We are better at some shit than they are, but it certainly isn’t something like fighting a virus.

Mainly because of the proximity to China they get hit with weird viruses every few years, so they are used to wearing masks and are much more collective etc.

It’s a shame they are so racist and the birth rate is so low the country is almost in a death spiral....they are kicking some Covid ass though even with an old population.

The US has an economy of $21 Trillion. Japan has an economy of less than $5 Trillion. Obviously all pre-covid. Japan has been economically stagnant for nearly 30 years. They have no military. Your post is just factually incorrect with the exception of one point: We are a fat nation and littered with Type 2 diabetics which has accelerated the Covid deaths. Japan lives off of healthy seafood, and in the US 50% would gag at a piece of fish and routinely lives off of food that comes from a drive thru. This is why people are dropping dead, not because of this myth of contact tracing, which is a fucking laughable joke. Yeah go to east Chicago and do contract tracing at 9pm and see where that gets you.

I mean as far as the virus, not as a country obviously. He’s talking about second waves in countries like Japan and Australia. They had a combined 6 deaths yesterday and he says they are getting bombed and comparing it to us. Combined they have over half our population and had 6 combined deaths. Oklahoma had 8 yesterday. He asked why they get benefit of the doubt. That’s like 150 million people and 6 deaths. That’s why they get the benefit of the doubt. To compare their problems to ours is nonsense.

A lot of the things that make the USA the greatest country in world history make this virus tougher to beat for us. It’s just the way it is and being caught unprepared for a pandemic that we didn’t prepare for long before Trump did not help. And everyone including Trump, the media, Democrats, were not taking the stories coming out of China seriously enough.

Overall though the US has done OK though I believe lockdowns have gone on way too long. Every local population is gonna have to reach some level of herd immunity it’s the only way it gonna go away. The NYC area is a perfect example even though Cuomo fucked up nursing homes bad and caused massive unnecessary death.

The one thing I wish would come out of this would be if we finally had a reckoning with the obesity issue in the US. It could be a major positive to emerge but it won’t happen because it has been politicized way too much and the whole “don’t fat shame” leftist movement won’t let it happen.

Deaths lag and let’s see where every country is six months from now.

Like I said, 99.9% of Japan is Japanese. 100% of South Korea is South Korean. Nobody from other countries ever moves there, which is why they have no immigration drama like we have in the US.

This virus is attacking fat people and minorities, all because they have shitty fucking diets. Of course it is attacking 80 years olds as well, but that is life when all said and done.

My point is the virus will run its course, just like it did in 1918. You know what is funny is all this? Nobody is criticizing Trump anymore about immigration restrictions.

Splitthis is correct in that if people stopped living off of pizza and chicken wings we would be in much better shape for the next pandemic. But we don't as a society, and I am not moralizing because I had KFC twice this past week, meanwhile people in Japan are eating sushi. Fat people with shitty diets are a petri covid dish, just the way it is.

One thing to add BCR, do you think the riots and protesting had anything to do with the current situation we are in? How do you feel about these protests that gather hundreds or thousands of people together?

I don’t know why I am responding to you except I think it’s possible you are a little slow more than mean spirited. Australia is getting “smacked around” according to you with their 4 deaths yesterday. So they with their 24.5 million people are getting “smacked around” with 4 deaths yesterday, while we are doing ok with an Oklahoma with under 4 million people having twice that. I picked the whitest and reddest state I could find for you to make it simple. I didn’t pick a hotspot. Just a random red ass low population state, and it’s still worse. And you ask why they get the benefit of the doubt? Why do you have such low expectations for us? We are richer. It’s Oklahoma. Not diverse. No protests.

Australia kicks Oklahoma’s ass despite having 8x people, and we are doing ok.

Very low expectation. You want praised for a D-.

They were idiotic other than the initial few days in Minnesota itself, which was understandable outrage. Maybe they contributed to 5-10% of our problem presently. Hard to gauge. The problems aren’t where the protests were most prevalent for the most part, but they occurred everywhere. They also occurred where there isn’t a problem. It’s a small factor.

If you asked me, have more people died from Covid that was indirectly caused by the protests than black men killed by police in a year, I’d say it would have to be yes. I’m not sure, but I’d bet It killed 25-30 people certainly, so in that sense, it was idiocy.

I think your comparison of Oklahoma to Australia should be revisited at a later date because deaths lag and I think Austrailia as whole is nowhere near herd immunity. The fact is they are now experiencing their worst COVId outbreak to date.

And I’m not sure that an Austrilia to Oklahoma comparison is comparing apples to apples enough anyway. All of this stuff is hard to say when comparing different populations and factors.

At least you can admit somewhat to the protests being bad but I think WAY more people have been infected and killed due to local governments refusing to quell riots and protests than some jackasses not wearing masks.

And do you know what kind of state Minneapolis is in right now after the riots? It’s a living hellhole and the city experienced 500 Million dollars in damage I don’t think it was reasonable in any way. Do some internet searching about current Minneapolis crime after these riots and the aftermath and tell me if you really think it was worth it.

I may post some Minneapolis crime stories later in the riots thread.

I don’t know why I’m responding to you except I think it’s possible you are a little slow more than mean spirited.

    SAD
You think I’m slow or possibly mean spirited because I am giving opinions and making arguments you don’t like.

I don’t attack or name call anyone before they do it first, then it’s fair play and I respond. It’s a game I don’t like but I’ll engage when necessary.

I personally think you have a distorted worldview but you have a right to your opinions and I enjoy the argument and debate with leftists or anyone else for the most part as long as they’re made in good faith.
