So Trump lowballing the numbers serves what purpose then? As a health care professional, do you approve?
He and Muck have been trolling grown men for years on poker message forums, it's in their DNA. We all know Muck is immersed in poverty and surviving on federal stimulus. Not sure about Walt, probably successful, but obviously lonely. I mean if it were not for trolling Walt would post like once a day.

Have you heard a single credible report of a person becoming sick/dying from a clear reinfection? I haven't. At most all we get are these murky reports of a tiny minority of people going from positive-negative-positive with no indication they are even getting sick again. If they were, I feel this is a detail that would have come up by now.

Also, as far as vaccines go, a dominant strain evolving and overwhelming the rest is actually a GOOD thing. We want there to be a single, dominant strain we all have that a vaccine or therapy targets if/when it comes out. Also, the mutation they are referring to has been the dominant strain in the US and most of Europe the whole time. This isn't anything new.

If Western vaccine developers are making vaccines against the original November Wuhan strain that are ineffective agains the strain that has been dominant in Europe and the US the last 2 months than this would be a pretty big miscalculation. I am optimistic this is not what is going on.
My thoughts exactly. Beat me to the punch when I saw that phony LA Times article, lets consider the source.

It would solve most of the health insurance crisis and COVID if we had an obesity rate in the single digits.
I think you and splitthis should get married. Both of you are obsessed with the topic of reducing obesity.

Now, don't get me wrong, I agree that the increased obesity in the US is a public health problem, and I am in the process of losing weight myself, despite not being obese.

However, COVID would still be plenty of a problem if the obesity rate was under 10% (it would still be killing old and sick people, for one), and it would not solve most of the health insurance crisis. It might bring health insurance rates down a little bit, but the health insurance problem is due to a combination of an antiquated, piecemeal billing system (which is rarely discussed), a doctor shortage (also rarely discussed), and a preferred-provider insurance scheme which discourages the free market (again, rarely discussed).
Obesity is not a problem, it is a crisis. It is only getting worse. Your continual downplaying it’s significance is mind numbing.

If you even crunch the most basic numbers, close to 40 million Americans over 70, and 1.5 million in nursing homes. Shit, you are gonna get an easy million out of that alone.

Now add in younger, obese, sedentary, and a million is a drop in the mass grave.

Obesity is an epidemic, it's just a silent killer. I was at the doctor a couple months ago for a physical, and he was clear the #1 issue he faces is obesity with patients. He was also clear over-eating is the toughest addiction people face, much more than opiates. There are millions that simply cannot control their portions. I have personally have seen people pack in 2,000 calories in a sitting and it is shocking, and this is not some eating competition, rather just a typical lunch.

Obese are NOT dying from comorbidities such as Type 2 or asthma. They are dying from COVID-19 as a direct result of being obese. The pressure on the lungs placed by obesity makes respiratory issues so much more acute and there is no way out because it's not like the fat guy can all of a sudden lose 100lbs in ICU. It's a death trap.

You are wrong on this one Druff, plain and simple.

You made your point Walt. Take your incessant trolling to another thread or at least do what Muck does and keep it to red reps. You are a thread polluter and add nothing.

Drudge is less partisan than leftists who never view it perceive it as.

Drudge hyperlinks a lot of stories from NYT, CNN, Reuters, etc.

But they also hyperlink Fox, DailyCaller, DailyMail, etc.

Of course, the average leftist views not exclusively hyperlinking left wing sources as indication of extreme right wing bias.

Drudge has been on record saying he will link stories that create the most clicks, plain and simple. He already had the right wing under his thumb, now he is roping in the left wing. His traffic is exploding, he has both wings now in his rotation.

    verminaard was right.

US Deaths from Monday 5pm PT to Tuesday 5pm PT = 2350

So much for the reduction of deaths. Weekend lag tricks us again.

BTW US deaths about 72,200 now.

Tight 74k prediction. What are the odds that 1800 people total die in the US from coronavirus between now and August 4?

Druff, 80% of the people dying are obese, age is actually the second indicator.

Also, this needs it’s own thread but 15% of the direct healthcare costs go to treat obesity specific problems. Some studies show as much as 50% of health care costs are obesity related. None of the reasons you list come close to accounting for that much of the cost.

Also obesity is responsible for about an 8% reduction ($1.7 trillion) in the economy annually. Also backed up through multiple studies.

It’s literally a pandemic exponentially worse than COVID but it kills people slowly so we don’t seem to care.
