According to the stats nerd I was listening to, he’s been following them for quite awhile and their data has corresponded dead on.
Basically what the RO of each state is presently, and if it’s decreasing or increasing. At one point it was over 2, now most states hover around break even or slightly above or below 1, which means we will see roughly the same or lessening cases if that remains stable or lessens. Either way, useful to look at trends for your state.

What's wrong with this? They want to liquidate some holdings so they can profit from their work. If the vaccine doesn't work it won't be worth as much. They are hedging a bit of risk, and they did it with an automated trading platform that is triggered when their options are ITM by a certain amount. This is not the same as people who talk out of one side of their mouth saying everything is fine and then are quietly selling, like the senators did.
