Covid got the Daly family last week.
My 100 year old grandmother got it, spent 2 weeks in the hospital and passed. We didn’t put her in the ICU on a tube or anything.
Needless to say it’s “sad but not tragic” and it’s more than fair to say 100 year olds are what Covid eats for breakfast.
My parents under up getting it around the same time and they got through it with a mild cold.
Condolences, Daly.
At least you got a long time with your grandma. 3 of mine were gone over 40 years ago.
Zero chance I live to 100, and in fact very few people on this forum will. Good run for sure.
Omicron is probably more like the flu now -- a danger to the old and vulnerable, and not really anyone else.
Severe COVID-19 ‘Rare’ In Unvaccinated People, Survey Reveals
A survey has found that people who did not get the vaccine had a lower rate of suffering severe COVID-19 amid the pandemic.
The survey uploaded to the preprint server ResearchGate presented data from more than 18,500 respondents from the “Control Group” project with more than 300,000 overall participants. An analysis revealed that compared to those who got jabbed, unvaccinated people reported fewer hospitalizations.

A group of experts has delved into the Pfizer trial documents released following a U.S. court order and discovered that according to Pfizer's own antibody data the vaccine efficacy in the trial was as low as zero.

if you're stupid enough to inject this into your children, I hope your kids die, and you're so overwhelmed with emotion over your stupid decision that you noose yourself.
That's because the vaccine was voluntary. The people who got it were more likely to be old or sick, and the people who didn't get it were more likely to be young and healthy. Bad study. Old and vaccinated has always been far more susceptible to bad COVID outcomes than young and unvaccinated.
In the meantime, people at WSOP are worried about getting it a SECOND time during the series, despite it presenting as a cold in pretty much everyone. Here was my response:

There was some coercion via vaccine requirements at jobs and for entry to certain businesses. I didn't agree with that then, and I especially don't agree now (because two shots is almost useless at this point anyway, and super-useless to prevent transmission).
Despite that, most people who were anti-vax didn't get it. That's why some states had only about half of their population vaccinated.
Regardless, any study which looks at "vaccine outcome" and doesn't separate by age and prior health is dishonest.
It would be like saying that living in a retirement community is dangerous because they have a far higher death rate than regular neighborhoods. If someone told you that, you'd call them a moron, yet this is basically the same argument anti-vaxxers are making about the vaccinated outcomes being worse.
If you really want to make some decent anti-vax arguments at this point, try this:
- Original two shots have worn off and are mostly useless now, especially for non-elderly people
- Omicron presents like a cold in most people, and has a similar danger rate to the flu for the non-elderly
- Fourth shot has been mostly useless in preventing symptomatic Omircon in mid-2022
- It is possible that too many shots will cause T-cell exhaustion and actually worsen your ability to fight COVID long term
- Vaccination doesn't help much or at all with transmission at this point
- Even at their best point, the vaccines were still only effective for 5-6 months
- There are still plenty of unknowns regarding mRNA vaccines and their possibility to have aggravated hereditary or chronic conditions
There you go. No need for data manipulation.

Covid-19 Vaccination BNT162b2 Temporarily Impairs Semen Concentration and Total Motile Count among Semen Donors
So here is an interesting research paper on the Pfizer covid vaccine (which I took 3 doses of for the record) and sperm quality. Perhaps the most alarming (but not surprising) part of this story is that the authors argue that sperm quality recovers over time and even insinuate this in the title of the paper, where if you look at the actual data, it doesn't support this assertion at all; and sperm quality is still significantly reduced at the final time point they record data at.
Assuming the people who did the actual research are honest and want to portray their work honestly, it would definitely have been interesting to be a fly in the wall in the meetings with higher ups that resulted in them falsely asserting the changes in sperm quality were temporary (at least in the time frame of this paper, perhaps over a long time period actual recovery is demonstrated)

Is there anyone other here that still cares about Covid?
