For the record California is pretty stupid too but that’s because of the huge inequities among the population. Some very smart but also extremely stupid people.
Yea the next 2-3 weeks will give a better understanding for the current plateau (or very slow rise) in deaths in US. Is it mainly related to vaccinations/mandates or omicron. From just seasonal/weather patterns it should have been rising the last 2 months.

There's a word for skilled/intelligent people migrating i can't remember now. Even if you don't give too much weight to genetics, that alone does work and then the level of education obv.
The next 2-3 weeks will indeed give a better understanding, but it will be mostly about the true danger of Omicron. There's no question that we have extremely high case number right now, and by the end of the month, we will see how that translates to deaths and hospitalization.

It's not going to provide much info on vaccines or mandates, but of course it will show us how the vaccines work against Omicron, and how important the booster was.

So we just got an email that my son was "exposed" to Covid at school (presumably a kid in his class, they didn't say) and he has to quarantine. The email was worded in an extremely confusing manner, but it seems he can come back if he gets 2 negative tests? I really am not sure. I'll just let him stay home tomorrow and then figure things out for next week.

My sister's kids in LAUSD have to get Covid tested in school and quarantine if they are positive or have an exposure, so I am guessing there will be A LOT of school time missed. And an outside shot they go the Chicago route and just say F it, no more school. I think that is less likely in Los Angeles than Chicago though, because in Los Angeles there is a pretty big contingent of people (mainly Hispanic) who would potentially revolt and start voting Republican if the Democrats go too far in doing Democrat things. As opposed to Chicago where there really is no alternative so the Dems can do whatever they damn please and the people have to live with it.

    Hurray.

I’ll admit living in Florida my experience is different than some in liberal states. But what really is keeping anyone from living their “normal” life unless you have serious health issues? And what do you feel is going to change in the future to get you back to normal?

The things we don’t see, other than flying, that some of you are dealing with are masks. I do visit Nevada often and while there is a mask mandate, other than walking in a casino most remove them immediately with no issues. Same in Safeway, 25% walking around without them with no one saying anything. Masks will probably go away in most places but I believe they are here to stay on planes if the left gets it’s way. So this is the new “normal”.

Vaccine requirements in cities to get into restaurants and events. Does anyone really think this is going away? I don’t, so this is the new normal in these cities.

Not sure why anyone with Covid or thinks they might have it is “quarantining” at this point. We never used that word when someone had the flu or a cold. If you take off work or don’t go to the bar, fine but did we ever call it quarantining? You stayed home because you were sick, what’s different now? And what will be called in the future?

Bottom line is people allowed Covid and fear to change their lives more so than regulations after the initial shutdowns that proved to be a mistake. Not sure what anything thinks will be different a month, year or even 5 years from now.

According to the charging documents, Beam told Gordon that her child was in the trunk because he had previously tested positive for COVID-19 and as a result, wanted to "prevent her from getting exposed to possible COVID" while driving him to get additional testing at the stadium.
Gordon told Beam that she "would not be receiving COVID testing until the child would be removed from the trunk of the vehicle and place[d] in the back seat of the vehicle."

Yesterday I read that both Massachusetts and New York are changing how they report covid hospitalizations. Until now both states have been reporting people in hospital with covid and those in hospital because of covid as a covid hospital case. In New York, it is estimated that 50% of reported covid hospitalizations were for other reasons and that covid diagnosis was unrelated to the reason for hospitalization. In Massachusetts the number is reported to be significant but no % was given. All this time we've been lied to (mislead) about the hospitalizations in these states. Go figure.

Actually it appears everyone (including the US) has some sort of myocarditis warning, mostly hidden in small text somewhere where no one will ever see it. The unique thing about Japan is actually making sure the people aware, instead of gaslighting them like our authorities do.

This is because hospitals get paid more if they classify them as Covid cases, also collect 30k more for a death. Hmmm wonder why so many people died unnecessarily.

Also don’t be fooled by overwhelmed hospitals being an incentive to get jabbed.

Hospitals fired workers not vaccinated. Remaining workers have Covid.

Bingoooooo, less workers, more unnecessary deaths, more money in the bankkkkk.

Sooo I was reading an article about RFK Jr's book The Real Anthony Fauci, a NYT's best seller. I wasn't looking for it, that guy has no cred what so ever or does he?
    Here's an excerpt.

"Kennedy’s central theme was the total corruption of the American public health system at the hands of profit-hungry corporations, which had effectively subverted the regulatory process to ensure that lucrative drugs—sometimes even dangerous ones—were mass-marketed to our unprotected citizenry like any other consumer product.

Although I found much of Kennedy’s criticism of the pharmaceutical industry reasonably persuasive, under normal circumstances his book would not have drawn me into public health issues, given my lack of familiarity with the topic. But what completely shocked me was that nearly half his text—some 200 pages—was devoted to presenting and promoting the astonishing claim that everything we have been told about HIV/AIDS for more than 35 years probably constituted a hoax.

Yet according to the information provided in Kennedy’s #1 Amazon bestseller, this well-known and solidly-established picture, which I had never seriously questioned, is almost entirely false and fraudulent, essentially amounting to a medical media hoax. Instead of being responsible for AIDS, the HIV virus is probably harmless and had nothing to do with the disease. But when individuals were found to be infected with HIV, they were subjected to the early, extremely lucrative AIDS drugs, which were actually lethal and often killed them. The earliest AIDS cases had mostly been caused by very heavy use of particular illegal drugs, and the HIV virus had been misdiagnosed as being responsible. But since Fauci and the profit-hungry drug companies soon built enormous empires upon that misdiagnosis, for more than 35 years they have fought very hard to maintain and protect it, exerting all their influence to suppress the truth in the media while destroying the careers of any honest researchers who challenged that fraud. Meanwhile, AIDS in Africa was something entirely different, probably caused mostly by malnutrition or other local conditions.

I found Kennedy’s account as shocking as anything I have ever encountered.

I was deeply impressed by the scientific credibility of some of the individuals supporting Kennedy’s seemingly outlandish claims.

However, the first endorsement on the back cover is from Prof. Luc Montagnier, the medical researcher who won a Nobel Prize for discovering the HIV virus in 1984, and he writes: “Tragically for humanity, there are many, many untruths emanating from Fauci and his minions. RFK Jr. exposes the decades of lies.”
Kennedy noted that three additional science Nobel Laureates have expressed similar public skepticism for the conventional HIV/AIDS narrative, one of them being Kary Mullis, the renowned creator of the revolutionary PCR test.

The medical and media establishments were intensely hostile to Kennedy and his huge bestseller, and I became extremely suspicious when I noticed that their very harsh attacks scrupulously ignored the “HIV/AIDS Denialism” that constituted the largest and most explosive portion of his book, suggesting that they feared to challenge his claims.

"Prior to the recent Covid outbreak, AIDS had probably spent four decades as the world’s highest-profile disease, and I was staggered by the notion that I might have been completely misled for all those years by our dishonest public health establishment and its subservient media. So I began exploring that half-forgotten controversy of the 1990s, which I had largely ignored at the time.

One of the major scientific heroes in Kennedy’s account is Prof. Peter H. Duesberg of Berkeley. During the 1970s and 1980s, Duesberg had been widely regarded as among the world’s foremost virologists, elected to the prestigious National Academy of Sciences at age 50, making him one of its youngest members in history. As early as 1987 he began raising serious doubts about the HIV/AIDS hypothesis and highlighting the dangers of AZT, eventually publishing a series of journal articles on the subject that gradually won over many others, including Montagnier.

But rather than openly debate such a strong scientific opponent, Fauci and his allies blacklisted Duesberg from receiving any government funding, thereby wrecking his research career, while also vilifying him and pressuring others to do the same. According to fellow researchers quoted by Kennedy, Duesberg was destroyed as a warning and an example to others. Meanwhile, Fauci deployed his influence to have his critics banned from the major national media, ensuring that few outside a narrow segment of the scientific community ever even became aware of the continuing controversy.

One of Duesberg’s central claims was that the disease known as “AIDS” didn’t actually exist, but was merely the official label attached to a group of more than two dozen different illnesses, all of which had a variety of different causes, with only some of these being infectious agents. Indeed, most of these illnesses had been known and treated for many decades, but they were only designated “AIDS” if the victim was also found to test positive for the HIV virus, which probably had nothing to do with the condition.

In support of their contrary position, the authors noted that the various groups at high risk for “AIDS” only tended to get particular versions of the disease, with the “AIDS” suffered by hemophiliacs usually being very different from the “AIDS” of African villagers and only slightly overlapping with the diseases of gay men or intervenous drug addicts. Indeed, the pattern of “AIDS” in Africa seemed utterly divergent from that in the developed world. But if all these different illnesses were actually caused by a single HIV virus, such completely disparate syndromes would seem puzzling anomalies, difficult to explain from a scientific perspective.

The story that Duesberg tells is a simple one. After the successful eradication of polio in the 1950s, America’s enormous existing infrastructure of infectious disease professionals lost most of the reason for its existence, and its leaders eventually began searching for some new means of justifying their continued government funding. The War on Cancer begun in the late 1960s proved a dismal failure and the massively-hyped warnings of a deadly Swine Flu epidemic in 1976 became a complete debacle, leading to the ouster of some top officials. So a few years later when the AIDS label was affixed to a group of apparently unrelated illnesses, Anthony Fauci and others had a tremendous incentive to claim that the cause was an infectious agent, and despite the lack of any solid evidence soon fingered the HIV virus as the culprit. Once that original misdiagnosis had spawned an enormous multi-billion-dollar industry, its researchers, administrators, and corporate beneficiaries were committed to protecting it.

Despite Kennedy’s efforts, my own position on Covid vaccinations or other related public health measures still remains very conventional, not too different from what might be found in the pages of the Times or the Economist. But as I have previously emphasized, although my views haven’t changed, my confidence in those views has been severely shaken:"

    Same here
