Some of you remember the 1991 story I told, where my friend Eddie and I ran into a really hot sounding girl on a party line. We later discovered it was a dude who had the incredible ability to not just sound like a convincing female, but to sound like a really hot one.

Armed with this knowledge a year later that such a thing was possible, it almost happened again. This time a breathy girl named "Satara" sent me a private message on a voice messaging system (similar to a party line, but it operated more like a forum, as there was no live communication), telling me that I was "really smart" and "really interesting", and she wanted to get to know me. I still remember the name because it was so stupid. Anyway, Satara had music in the background in every single one of her messages. The song she played most frequently was your favorite song Zap -- "Walkin on Broken Glass", which was then a big hit in 1992.

I asked Satara why there was always fairly loud music in the background of her messages, both public in private. She said something like, "I do it to create a scene, to create a mood, to give my messages the perfect sound."

Bullshit. Satara seemed to be a dude faking a female voice, and the music was to distract from anyone noticing that. I accused Satara of this, "she" feigned outrage and denied it, but I repeated the allegation and said I was almost certain of it. Then "she" vanished from the entire line for good, making it likely I was correct.
