WOONSOCKET, RI — CVS is waiving copays for treatment relating to the new coronavirus for Aetna members. Testing for the virus as well as telemedicine visits will be offered, free of charges to members.

The Rhode Island-based pharmacy giant has owned the insurance company since a $69 billion-dollar merger in 2018. Karen Lynch, the president of Aetna and executive vice president at CVS Health, said the company has worked with public health experts and organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to stay up-to-date and spread awareness.

"Supporting the health and well-being of our members and removing barriers to care are among our key areas of focus as we navigate the spread of COVID-19," Lynch said. "That's why we're providing COVID-19 diagnostic testing and telemedicine visits with no out-of-pocket costs or cost sharing for Aetna members, along with a number of other programs and offerings that reinforce our commitment to delivering timely and seamless access to care."

Effective immediately, the new policy covers test kits for COVID-19, as well as the diagnostic tests costs. In addition, Aetna members can utilize telemedicine visits for any reason, with no copay. All costs associated with the CVS MinuteClinic app, Aetna-covered teledocservices and video conferencing with in-network providers will be waived for commercial plans, CVS said on Friday.

Any Aetna members diagnosed with the virus will receive a care package with over-the-counter medications from CVS to help with symptoms, as well as cleaning supplies to help prevent the spread of illness within homes.

Care managers with Aetna will reach out to those deemed most at-risk for contracting the virus, and discuss preventive steps. CVS Health is also taking the following steps, the company said:

Opening Crisis Response Lines for all Aetna (Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid) and Caremark members who may be experiencing anxiety related to COVID-19.
Expanding 24/7 access to the Aetna Nurse Medical Line for all Aetna and Caremark members.
Providing Aetna plan sponsors with a Resources for Living toolkit with materials specifically developed for members experiencing anxiety related to COVID-19.

Does this mean I can go in and get tested? Or do I have to be on the verge of death and over 55?

Of course buddy, just walk right in with no symptoms and get yourself tested. It's like an HIV test. Better to be safe than sorry. I got my Coronavirus test this morning. Came back negative! Gonna go back in 3 months.

Israel banning much of Europe from coming into the country, and will be discussing tomorrow about banning US residents from coming in, while possibly requiring their own residents returning from US to self-quarantine for 14 days.

Starting yesterday (March 6), Norwegian Cruise Lines came up with a new refund policy for the coronavirus:

For all new and existing individual and group bookings that embark from March 10, 2020 through and including September 30, 2020:
Guests can cancel up until 48 hours prior to vacation start date. Cancelled reservations that occur prior to 48 hours to vacation date will receive a 100% future cruise credit (FCC) to be used for ANY Norwegian sailing embarking on or before December 31, 2022.Vacation start date includes any pre-hotel or Cruisetour packages booked through Norwegian.

FCC will include all components of the reservation that have been paid, including but not limited to: shore excursions, beverage and dining packages (including associated gratuities), service charges and air or transfers pre purchased through Norwegian.Note any insurance purchased on existing bookings will not be included in the FCC amounT.
Basically you can cancel up to 2 days before and get 100% credit to use toward a different cruise until the end of 2022.

That's surprising, because cruise lines HATE empty cabins, and do all they can to avoid it. The industry has been pushing cancel dates further and further back. Last I saw, Norwegian's cancellation period for a full refund was 90 days (it may be even more now). So now they've reduced that to 2 days (!!), though this cancellation gives you only a credit instead of a refund.

It's possible they did this for a few reasons:

    1) They're under tremendous pressure to allow cancellations from those afraid to cruise now, especially old people (who make up a large percentage of cruisers)
    2) This encourages people to book cruises this year anyway, knowing that they're not as committed to go if the coronavirus is still an issue. So, for example, one might feel more comfortable now booking a cruise for August 2020.

Just a bookmark for next week now that we are starting to have the ability to test. We currently have the 5th highest death toll at 19.

From 3/1-3/7- France had 130 cases. Now 949
    Italy had 1700. Now 5883
South Korea had. 3736. Now 7041

Ignoring countries like Iran that you can’t trust.

We currently have 439 cases on 3/7 at 8pm
    Germany has 800.
    Spain 503

I haven’t found a resource that lists the daily numbers over the past weeks so I figured I’d put a few countries down and see the trends without having to search for it next week.

    Current list

I see that Princess is offering what seems the same cancellation terms. I guess they have no choice. Looked at Carnival's stock and it's just a little less than 1/2 off from it's all time high.

From my observations, this virus is especially deadly when it overwhelms an area.

Hubei for example, they didn't know what they were dealing with for months. (or the authorities ignored it)
If you look at mainland China they seem to have it under control in other areas. 3,000 deaths in Hubei and less then 100 in other parts of the country.
I think Italy and Iran are in a similar boat. It ran rampant as they didn't know what it was or they were negligent in procedures. Which has led to large scale lock downs of tens of millions in certain areas.

I'm thinking if it's left to fester in an area it reaches a critical saturation load that kills many.
If the authorities are on to it early it can be controlled and mitigated.

Hope I'm at least half right.
If you get a big hotspot in the USA it's an altogether different ballgame.
