She was supposedly 74, but that likely wasn't true. There were three difference sources for her birth year -- 1932, 1938, and 1945. She would never disclose her age. I could never figure out in these cases why the truth didn't come out from people who went to school with them.
On Good Times, she played a childhood friend of Florida Evans, played by Esther Rolle who was born in 1920. So even if you take the oldest assumption of Ja'Net Dubois' age, she was still 12 years younger than Rolle. More laughably, John Amos was born in 1939, making him almost 20 years younger than his on-screen wife.
Some people didn't realize that Dubois co-wrote The Jeffersons theme song and end-song, and sang them both.
