Sacramento-area Card Room forced "closed down" by emergency in California. Hint: it wasn't Stones and it wasn't for Cheating

Magnolia House Casino, a card room in Rancho Cordova was temporarily shut by California Attorney General Xavier Becerra. It will remain like that until they can demonstrate they have no longer have an issue with possessing funds within their operation that pretty match gaming chips in play.

They were also intermingling "banker money" (remember, this is supposed to be owned for the purposes of dealing by *an independent entity* in a California card rooms) with their own funds. From the article:

It also failed to deposit funds from “third-party providers” into separate accounts, as required by state gaming laws. Card rooms, unlike Indian casinos in California, aren’t allowed to act as “the house” and are required to work with third-party providers that handle the actual betting at their card tables.

Here's an article which describes the situation from the Sacramento Bee:

Very interesting story given the recent discussions we've been having about the Indian tribes attempting to force major changes in the player banking rules.

This is even more proof that these "player banked" games are a sham, and the whole system needs major reform.

I was a table games manager in a few different Indian Casinos during the "poker boom".

I've seen some extremely shady scams. I'm not sure how it works everywhere else but in OK they would collect an ante. This is suppose to be the Casinos fee for running player banked games. If the player bank made money all that money is suppose to be given back to the players. We've bought cars, jet skis, cruises etc. with this money and for the most part all of that was on the up and up.

Early in the Bellator MMA days we had a fight at one of our Casinos on the Oklahoma / Kansas border. It took place in a tent behind the Casino, was on paperview etc. If they pulled in every male within 100 miles they couldn't have sold out this fight. Their solution? Our player pool purchased all the "VIP" tickets for the fight and handed them out to players, this turned the player pool money into casino money "Legally". These tickets were $3000 each. You got to set ringside in a folding chair at a folding plastic table. We literally handed out hundreds of these and most of them hit the trash can.

That's a great story. I can only imagine how many similar shenanigans occurred in California.

Was this one of the card rooms where Dr. Pockleface used to own heads?

That was the Limelight. He may have also gone to this one, but I don't remember him mentioning it.
