    Free blackjack tournament offer

I got an offer for 3 free nights at Paris, plus entry into a 75k blackjack tournament. Total expense would be 230$ to get there. Is a blackjack tournament worth the hassle? I’d probably go by myself and poker action generally isn’t good Sunday to Wednesday so I’m iffy if I want to go because hanging out in Vegas alone seems boring. Prize structure would be 40k first, 8k second and down from there I believe

Is the entry worth $230? Depends on how many people got the offer.

If you do play, you will have a big edge on most of the field if you do it right, because most people in BJ tournaments have no clue what they're doing. You need to understand how to play it correctly, though. However, there's still a lot of variance.

Basically, start off betting the minimum, wait to see if your opponents hang themselves, and if one starts to get ahead, you will need to bet bigger in the last few rounds to catch up. Always watch what others are betting, and how much the leader is ahead of you.

Many idiots at BJ tournaments cheer when the dealer busts, regardless of how much they have out. In reality, you WANT the dealer to beat everyone if you have the smallest bet on the table. Not that it matters who you "root" for, but it shows how clueless most of the players are.

If I call will they tell me how many people will be in the tournament? How many entrants do you think are to many Todd?
Thanks for the strategy if I decide to go it will help a lot.
I watch a few videos on a BJ tournament and came up with that exact strategy but I wasn’t sure if I was missing something.

I don't know if they'll tell you the expected number of entrants. I've tried to find that out before, with mixed success.

If you do find out, it becomes a math problem whether it's worth it or not. Hard to define what your edge would be, though. It's only a matter of $230, so either you want to take a shot, or you don't. Not really worth putting effort into figuring out.

DrawingDead - It's a freeroll, so worth it. I'm not a BJ player and won one a while back for $15,000+. It plays more like a poker tournament, so everyday BJ players are -EV. See my old forum post at http://pokerfraudalert.com/forum/sho...t=biloxi+grand

PM me your email address and I can send you the 11-page BJ Tournament Strategy that I used.

    Good luck!

Thanks a lot that helps! I’ve read a lot of strategy unfortunately I won’t be able to go in March due to some unexpected tax issues lol. Man this new tax law has fucked me two years in a row it blows.
