FWIW Sandman isn't really doing anything. He is being represented by a high powered law team that specializes in these kind of cases. When the CNN case was going down, Mark Geragos (an LA celebrity lawyer who represents Colin Kaepernick, Chris Brown and others) estimated on a Carola pod that the CNN case was settled for 5-6 million. He doesn't have any inside info, he just speculated based on his experience how these things tend to go.
He also said it is pretty much impossible to sue the media, and they never settle, so the fact this is happening at all shows just how egregious and unethical they acted, which most of us realized at the time.
