Honestly black friday is just trash.

Honestly. the shit thats being offered 'for sale' is generally all absolute trash and more often than not they just list it at maybe -5% less than any other day, but make sure to show some totally fictional price next to it that they generated by adding 40% more than what they normally charge.

and none of it is very interesting.

like ok if you want a tv, sure, fuck it, black friday has you covered.

but everything else, why fuckin bother?

actually id be perfectly content if this thread turned into a spirited recount of how a random gay porn actor ended lloyd banks career just by looking exactly like him.

like honestly that shit was rough and right around the time people forgot, mobb deep showed up with g-unit tats and started dropping like 30 mix tapes a week.

what i find amazing about interscope is that there was this absolute supernova year where probably 40% of the hot songs came out of their camp and thennnnnnnn *nothing* ever again.

also quick reminder that souls of mischief were supposed to be the new tribe called quest and if i dont get a collection of word of mouth anecdotes about all the shit that went wrong to sink that juggernaut im going to die miserable.

im sure del the funky homosapien spending like a year of his life doing mushrooms with skaters didnt help but that has to be the tip of the iceberg.

but even with that casual should have carried them and wow did something go wrong there.

Normally I'd delete all this garbage and ban lol wow from the thread, but since it's yours, my heavy hands will go light and leave it alone.

I do have a comment about your OP though.

You are correct that there are a lot of BS Black Friday "deals" which are either fake-marking-down the price (by grossly inflating the "regular" price listing), or are some kind of inferior crap in the first place.

This first fully came to my attention four years ago. I needed a new laptop badly, as mine had actually died and I was limping along by sharing my girlfriend's laptop.

My plan was to wait until Black Friday, as I was only a few weeks away. However, I found the machine I wanted with HP, and they were running a sale, so it looked like I was getting a good deal. When they fucked up my order and it caused another 2 weeks delay beyond what I was already quoted, I got them to knock off like another $120 for the hassle. So now I had an even better deal.

However, now I was going to get the laptop right around Black Friday, and I feared I made a mistake. Surely the Black Friday deals would be better. I convinced myself that the extra $120 I got was probably still leaving my deal as the best.

Well, I get an e-mail that week from HP entitled "Doorbusters". That term always pisses me off when it describes online sales, because it's in relation to old school Black Friday where people would line up outside the door in the morning for the best deals, and then rush in. Online obviously can't have Doorbusters.

Anyway, I open up the e-mail, and there is my exact laptop "40% off". Except the price was about $150 higher than the price I paid before my additional $120 discount! So had I waited until Black Friday for "Doorbusters", the fake deal on my laptop would have cost me $270 more than my early-November order, and $150 even if I hadn't gotten that customer service credit.

Ever since then I have highly scrutinized Black Friday "deals"...

    First off, bookmark camelcamelcamel.com

That's a site which tracks historic prices on pretty much everything on Amazon, so you can see what is a good deal and what is a fake sale.

It went down for some months earlier this year with a strange message about how they couldn't pay their hosting bill, but they're back. But it's really a great site. I was introduced to it by my quarter-Jew girlfriend.

Next, something overlooked on Black Friday are discounts on services. So if you subscribe to anything -- magazines, online sites, streaming services, whatever, check to see if they have a Black Friday deal. Even Ben Shapiro is having a deal on his premium content this year (which, honestly, is useless because you get almost everything for free on YouTube anyway, but I digress...)

Also, as I mentioned in another thread, Target will give you a 20% off coupon (with no cap and very few restrictions) which can be used one time between 12/3 and 12/14 if you spend $50 on Black Friday.

You might want to look at other stores to see if they have anything interesting going on.

I wouldn't suggest anything where you have to wait in line during the early morning hours, though, because that's idiotic, and the whole country is too fucking cold today. There's people still sitting stranded in San Bernadino right now on I-15 and CA-138 because a ton of snow fell, and nobody was ready for it. And Los Angeles itself had a high of like 48 degress.

yeah its just so exploitive and scammy across the board.

i saw some high end photography lenses marked down at amazon like 30% so on a whim i googled the and they were literally cheaper on a non-amazon website when their page got scraped 3 weeks prior.

one thing i do love is being able to see how shitty new products are because they are getting marquis coverage during black friday in a last ditch effort to get units sold. looking at you, pixel 4.

but seriously the shit that goes on sale isnt even that interesting.

except... weirdly.... tvs.. specifically 'smart tvs'. which are also coincidentally the single biggest vector for data harvesting in the game of late. im sure its just a big misunderstanding tho.
