I just looked for a football thread to bump.

I’m watching this Sheffield-Arsenal match. There is no one in stands, yet it’s loud like the stands are full. Is that just for tv audiences? Are the players hearing that? Clearly they’re playing recordings of past stadium chants.

I just don’t get the recording shit. If I was a player I’d find it annoying like it’s insulting my intelligence, but maybe it’s like a laugh track just being played for tv audiences for it to feel authentic.

We don’t have our large spectator sports back yet. Just trying to anticipate what we will hear. I have thought of how cool it would be to hear an NBA game with all the trash talk and coaches instructions clearly audible. If they piped in a fake audience I’d find it annoying.
