Directly debit out of your bank account while at the tables at Palms Las Vegas?

Not sure how this is legal, as I though such a thing was illegal in Nevada.

However, it's possible that this will only be allowed at table games (see the bottom of the sign), which might be legal.

IGT put out a promotional video in June touting their machines being able to do this, but I'm pretty sure that's illegal in Nevada, and the video was likely aimed casinos in other markets.

That sounds like an awful idea for an industry who spends a lot of money and has many procedures to limit “problem gaming”.

Sick. If I had a casino you'd be allowed to stick your debit card straight into the slot machine. It's cheesy for a casino to rip off its customers on atm fees. Also, pussy ass young people dont feel comfortable carrying around a ton of cash so this will finally get them on the floor.

Slight correction, they spend a lot of money and have a lot of procedures in place to give the appearance that they want to limit problem gambling.

I heard it was $1000 at the table but at least one casino is lobbying Nevada gaming for $5000

This is only phase 1. Phase 2 involves having your paycheck from your employer direct deposited onto your player's card, which can be used to play at tables and slots.
