LA Chargers have been a huge fail. Will they soon be the London Chargers?

I never understood the Chargers coming to Los Angeles at the same time as the Rams.

The move would have somewhat made sense during the era when LA had no NFL team. However, it made zero sense to share LA with the Rams.

    Among them:

    1) The Rams were long associated with LA, while the Chargers were associated with nearby San Diego.

    2) The Chargers were long considered rivals of the LA Raiders. Even though the Raiders packed up and left 25 years ago, there's still plenty of animosity towards the Chargers in LA.

    3) The Chargers didn't have a good stadium ready. It's still being built, and they are stuck in a failstadium in Carson, which was built for soccer.

    4) After having no football for 25 years, LA simply didn't have enough of an NFL fanbase to support two teams, especially two in the exact same market. (Had one moved to Orange County, it would have made a little more sense.)

Anyway, the Chargers are now considering offers to move to London, though they're denying at the moment that they're considering it, likely not wanting to erode what little LA fanbase they've managed to get.

A London NFL team would be viable because they only play once per week. Such a team in baseball or basketball would be impossible because of the much more frequent schedule, making traveling a nightmare.

    Yes, the L.A. Chargers suck.

It's pretty sad when you lose to one of the worst teams in the the league, the Miami Dolphins.

Chargers were a better team when they were in San Diego.

There might been another option, they could also move to Las Vegas with the Raiders.

I think a London team is a poor idea, and that’s from someone who has been to many of the NFL London games. We all already have our own favourite teams and we’re not going to switch just because a team comes to London. It’s going to be the same as in LA where Chargers are always the away team.

They shouldn’t have ever moved from San Diego but going to LA was the owner’s dream.

Also of note, your post doesn’t make any sense. The Chargers beat the Dolphins 30-10 and last year had a record of 12-4 which was their best year since 2009. They even won a road playoff game. This year several close losses in games they should have won.

this team has lost their way. they seem to have an excuse every year. this year they're losing many close games.

between them and the bears they've been pretty poor

I think in a dream world for the NFL, it would have been the Chargers moving to Vegas and Oakland staying put.

But alas, here we are. Not sure if there is an easy answer for the Chargers anymore. London probably isn't it, neither is Mexico City. Toronto maybe? San Antonio/Austin? St. Louis?

Also if NFL think they will catch the whole UK market with a London team they are so wrong. London is a toxic name for most british people outside of the capital. I could never support a team based in London.

And if they’re trying for EU market, good luck getting euros to cheer a team based in the country which is most disruptive to European aims

How to turn around the Chargers:

    1. Move back to San Diego.
    2. Get rid of that overrated whiny cunt Rivers.

The Chargers are certainly a possibility to move to London, but I think are still a distant second to Jacksonville.

There is another scenario that has been discussed often in New England sports electronic and print media that potentially makes Chargers games "must see events".

Tom Brady is a true free agent at the end of this season and can't be franchised at the end of this season because of a clause in his present contract.

Tom and Gisele's house in Brookline, Mass. is for sale for $30+ million. They have purchased a $9 million house in Greenwich, Connecticut, which is a suburb of New York City. It's 168 miles from Greenwich to Foxboro. Of course, he could helicopter and/or van back and forth in a van that is set up like Rivers' San Diego to Los Angeles van that allows him to do his video preparation during the trip. He could also buy a small place in the Foxboro area and stay a few nights a week there. He could also just retire, but few believe that he will.

Alex Guerrero, Brady's personal trainer and business partner in TB12, which Brady view's as his future after the NFL, has sold his house in Norfolk,Mass.

Gisele is reportedly done with living in places like Boston. They simply aren't her style in terms of chic and glamour. They don't work with her future in the fashion industry. Even though Brady would be a great fit with the Bears or Titans, Gisele is not living in Chicago or Nashville. Both New York teams are invested in young quarterbacks. Los Angeles would be a totally different matter, full of her kind of people. They would potentially postpone their New York City life for a few years.

    The scenario is:

    1) The Chargers blow out Rivers and all or most of their coaching staff.

    2) They offer Brady a 2 or 3 year deal at $30+ million per year

    3) Pats offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is brought in as head coach to allow Brady to run basically the same style offense as he did in New England.

Moving the Chargers to London would be a huge mistake. At least if they stay in LA, they keep the TV market even if no one will go to the games.

If it's London, there will be a honeymoon period for ticket sales.....and then no one will watch OR go to the games once they start sucking because they are the Chargers.

Also, the UK's team is the Jaguars. I actually know several Brits who have kids, like NFL, and support the Jags (because they are there every year). They would probably be a better candidate.

brady also sold or is trying to sell his home is he boston area is well.

something like what you write is not far fetched at all. what is the odds of brady playing for the chargers next year?

The UK’s team is not the Jaguars, the vast majority of people are Patriots or Giants fans. People who fell in love with football in the 90s are Cowboys and 80s Bears. There are a sprinkling of others but Jaguars is definitely not #1

the Chargers & Jags are shitty, thus they and Lord of the Fraud are meant for one another

This is exactly what Schefter keeps raving about, we will see after this year I guess. Both the Rams and Chargers owners are idiots, so this is funny ...
