"Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness." - Alejandro Jodorowsky
"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
They've also intentionally fucked up the searching for conservative figures they don't like, such as Ben Shapiro and Steven Crowder.
Try to search for "change my mind steven crowder" and not a single "Change My Mind" video of his will come up on the front page. Crowder found that, outside the US, they come right up as the first result.
Simply searching for "Ben Shapiro" wouldn't yield any of his daily show videos, but it looks like they finally fixed that -- like within the last week.
MumblesBadly has to be God. Never been so sure of anything.
Not what's showing for me.
I can post a screen shot if you want.
Top result is Steven Crowder's channel itself, which isn't useful if you're looking for a Change My Mind episode from awhile back (because he puts out so many videos).
The next two results are unrelated Crowder videos. It didn't even show this a few months ago, but today I do get two unrelated Crowder videos as results #2 and #3.
The next full page of results are a mixture of clips of his Change My Mind videos (but NOT from his channel), mixed with videos from some guy named "Earthling Ed" who bashes Crowder. There are also some videos from others parodying Change My Mind videos. But not a single Change My Mind video from Crowder's channel.
I did not get a single full Crowder Change My Mind video on the front page by entering "steven crowder change my mind" or "change my mind steven crowder" into the search bar.
Again, if anyone doubts me, I can post a screen shot.
I haven't.
But I shouldn't have to do this.
The average YouTube viewer such as myself should get accurate search results, and I'm clearly not.
You can't even say that it's just tailored specifically to me because I actually watch Crowder's Change My Mind videos, so if anything, the bias should be toward showing me MORE of his videos, not fewer.
I don't watch Crowder at all.
I just typed Steven Crowder Change My Mind and it is a bunch of Change my Mind segments from his official channel.
Shrug.
My main gripe with YouTube is their recommended music choices are increasingly more and more regurgitating shit I have already listened to. I get it that most people just want to listen to the same songs over and over, so it probably makes business sense for them to do it this way, but sometimes you want to listen to something new similar to what you are listening to and it is more difficult now than it used to be.
I'm still having a bitch of a time searching for the latest Ben Shapiro video. Like, I eventually find it, but it takes some work.
I should've checked before posting that. This is the first time that the most recent 2 episodes come up on search.
I've been doing this for months and it's usually a struggle to find either the latest episode or the second-to-latest. Tonight they come right up.
Susan Wojcicki must lurk PFA.
Anyway next time it happens I'll take a screen shot.
If you are doing this searching for some kind of data gathering for an intensive exposé on Google’s anti-rightwing bias, you might want to save yourself the time given verminaard’s recent post about his own search test.
But if you are instead looking for the most recent episodes in order to watch them, have you considered subscribing to the channel AND clicking on the bell icon to be notified of when new episodes are uploaded? I here that is a great way to keep up with new content on a channel.
In November, a YouTuber came up with an epic way to fight against fraudulent copyright claims against videos he loads up to YouTube.
And here’s a follow-up he posted a month later with answers to questions viewers submitted after PewDiePie used that method and his video blew up.
Druff, I'm gonna have to ask you to ban this poster. He's taking over the forum & we just can't avoid reading his gibberish. There's just no way around it at this point.
I guess we could all just look at who started the thread then decide not to click on it & respond within 41 minutes but that sounds like an awful lot of fucking trouble. Banning is the only remedy or I'm gonna leave.
BTW, I find this poster unfunny in every post but find every post by lol wow, aka Gare, totally hilarious just like every other poster on this site.
TIA for your prompt action on this serious matter Druff.
