#ToddsPlan
say what you will about the man, he had an incredible run.
"Birds born in a cage think flying is an illness." - Alejandro Jodorowsky
"America is not so much a nightmare as a non-dream. The American non-dream is precisely a move to wipe the dream out of existence. The dream is a spontaneous happening and therefore dangerous to a control system set up by the non-dreamers." -- William S. Burroughs
Doyle’s is good as long as he still has a chip and a chair.
What a life he had. I am sure he will have no regrets when the time comes.
Perhaps the most normal famous poker player of several generations. Married for over 50 years to the same woman. Raised a family.
That prolly had something to do with his incredible run. Those that went from dorm room to full time poker had no life skills or support group and generally crashed.
Harolobob is the only other guy of that echelon that comes to mind. Like Doyle, he didn’t became a tard or broke or both.
Phil Hellmuth makes the list too in fairness. I just found his act annoying. Would never have a beer with him, for instance.
Harolobob & Hellmuth are distant seconds though. Nobody like Doyle will ever come along again.
Wish I saved my original Super System book.
