Gonsolin has to be in the Dodgers rotation and Urias in bullpen. It’s not debatable.

As mentioned above, Buehler is a huge question mark. Was never a #1 grade guy even in good health this year. Buehler and his blister are only going to see one start before playoffs.

I still don’t know what the Dodgers rotation will look like.

Dodgers crushed the Padres. Prior to the Yankees getting healthy again Dodgers & Padres were #1 & #2 in my mind. Then Tatís decided to go something like 2/27 ; 4/45.

People still seem to think NL MVP is between Betts & Tatis. With a week to go I don’t see it. I was huge on Tatis too. It’s over for Tatís. I heard Freddie Freeman for the first time yesterday. Nah. Winning teams matter.

Simpdog got in front of the Yankees last night trying to be cute with the big dog Jays. 19 home runs in a 3 game series. I was about to concede the crown to the Dodgers but now we likely/hopefully see Yankees vs Dodgers.

Manfred is a whore as revealed in my post above. The MLB commissioner is NOT a caretaker for the sport but a corporate CEO assigned the task of maximizing short term profit. I 100% believe he is playing games with the baseball too. Count the number of times you hear the announcer talk about record exit velocity.

Also, one last “fuck you” for the notion of playing the World Series in Arlington Texas in a dome on fake turf.

I think the initial round could have the kind of appeal you see in the early couple days in the NCAA tournament. It’s going to be crazy
Mind you, not a single fucking game has been played. He has no idea how this will work out. Top ten reasons for potential fail include playing every day back to back. Playoff rotations toasted.

How you think Druff’s Ferris Buehler is gonna fare with his blister this year? That’s actionable stuff btw. Yw

Why play 162 games just for seeding? Why play 162 to get to .500? NCAA basketball plays a handful of regular season games. It’s a different structure altogether. You want to go from 162 regular games to 80 or 60 we can talk about that bit I’m not leaning into that either.

If this happens I’m done. It would be an easy decision too.

    Idiot
I hate the expanded playoffs, too. At a compromise, extend playoffs to 14 teams. In each conference, 4 non-divison winners play for the final spot with the 3 division winners, then continue as normal.

Not sure winning teams matter for MVP as much as you think but even so not like Freddie is on the Pirates. Braves are going to win their admittedly crap division and be the 2 or 3 seed in NL. And they’ve had literally one reliable SP all season.

Their offense has carried them and Freddie has been a huge reason why. His numbers are outstanding. And don’t forget he had legit Covid with 104 fever in spring training and barely got back in time to start season, and struggled out of the gate. That could persuade a sympathy vote or two as well.

He’s also beloved by everyone so don’t discount the lifetime achievement award factor.

COVID survivor 2020 winner. I remember how much COVID kicked Freeman’s ass. I can see it. Forgot how much he’s loved.

Dodgers are nowhere without Betts with slumping Bellinger and hurt Turner

Verlander getting TJ and thus out next year. Gonna be 39 once he takes the mound again. Wonder if he'll have much left in the tank.

Still some important games left to be played obviously but if you look at these numbers hard to make a case for anyone other than Freddie even with Betts defense taken into consideration.

It's criminal that there's no bye for the 4 best teams in this 3-game playoff BS.

Should've been 12 playoffs teams, 4 byes (best 2 records in each league).

Six division winners, and 3 wildcards each league.

Why is FOX baseball coverage so bad? Almost makes me not wanna watch the game tonight. So painful listening to these onfield interviews with tincan audio quality. We're so lucky with SNY.

And of course Freeman promptly goes 0-5 with 4 K’s last night so it’s still anyone’s race to win.

    Worse than that

Down 3-1 late in game with bases loaded and one out - he hit into an inning ending double play.

    saw this on reddit:

The Mets will likely miss the expanded playoffs with the best offense in the league, arguably the best pitcher in the league, and a top-3 closer.

    • Their 121 wRC+ is tied with the Braves for first place. The three other teams in the top five are the Dodgers, Padres, and Yankees.
    • Their top five hitters (Conforto/Nimmo/Smith/Cano/McNeil) have combined for a 152 wRC+ (.312/.391/.531!)
    • Jacob deGrom leads the NL in K/9 (13.4), xFIP (2.43), and is second in fWAR (2.6).
    • Edwin Diaz: 1.57 ERA/47 K%!!

They currently have a 3% chance of making the playoffs according to Fangraphs. Staggering.

It’s all over the net but dive into deGrom’s 1st inning yesterday.

Jacob deGrom just threw one of the best innings in MLB history
    https://fansided.com/2020/09/21/jaco...history-video/

deGrom was one pitch away from joining history with an immaculate inning.

It’s such in your face, “go ahead and try to hit it”, “fuck you” stuff. Nothing cute. Brilliant.

Dodgers Dustin May throwing 100mph gas with elite movement is worth your attention right now too. Pure filth.

You know who has an immaculate inning? Craig Kimbrel. I saw him the other day for the Cubs and he was touching 98mph. Good location. He has been around for a decade as a closer and that’s crazy old. I remember him from Sawks & World Series win 2018.

    Kimbrel needs to be tested.

Dodgers do not wanna face Reds starting rotation. I need to get into that sometime.

May isn't ready for the big time at the moment. He might be in 2021. Right now he isn't.

I've been saying that I'd like to see Tony Gonsolin as the Dodgers #3 starter. 1.77 ERA, 0.787 WHIP. His "worst" outing involved a relief appearance where he went 5 innings and allowed 3 runs.

He shut down the tough Padres lineup last week.

Just seems to keep is cool and never blow up, which is impressive for a rookie. Dustin May has more overall talent, but I could see him cracking in the postseason.

Urias, once though to be an elite prospect, is turning more into an innings eater. I'm sure Sanlmar is satisfied to see that.

There's some players on the Dodgers who have oddly turned back the clock in 2020, including Corey Seager, Chris Taylor, AJ Pollock (who'd have guessed that one), and of course Kershaw. That's actually a lot of the reason for the Dodgers' success, despite the obvious in Betts.

Reds rotation in a 3 game series is a Dodgers nightmare.

I got them playing the Brewers atm but you’re prolly right before season is done.

Welp, despite the small sample size season, the AL has basically played out as expected, which is a little weird.

Lol at the NL tho. I think you could combine the Giants and Marlins rosters, and some would still pick the Phillies to win more games. 2nd worst bullpen of all-time hasn't done them any favors.

Angels just fired Billy Eppler and rumored to be hiring Dave Dombrowski as GM.

Red Sox fired him immediately after he bought a World Series championship. Sports are great like that.

The result was a blown motor after the quarter mile drag race. Sox had more sustainable championship versions under Theo etc.

We are quibbling about which championship was better. These are Boston kind of problems. You won’t understand.

If you got the cash (and I guess the Angels do) and want a ring Dombrowski is your guy.

Mookie Betts getting plunked on the hip in a meaningless game at the end of the string is unbelievable bad luck.

I’m not ready to foolishly dismiss this. A batters timing and approach is so delicate, Hips are everything as you see with Bellinger. Flying open etc. When you are hurt you compensate and shit goes south.

I take no joy in this at all.

Mookie was the best selling jersey this year. Surpassed Judge. Great stuff.

Dodgers so deep with capable arms. A few are elite. Quantity is gonna mean everything during this playoff. Literally no rest.

I still don’t think they know the rotation yet which is amazing to me. I also don’t think they can be entirely
comfortable with the closer but they elected to ignore it.

    Gonna be epic. Can’t wait.
