Maybe the Dodgers need to accept some blame here too.
I'll tell you that this is not a good offseason to be an above average player with a few holes in your game and/or had a bad/injured 2020, and be approaching the final year or 2 of arbitration. Much like the Hand story I posted above a month ago, guys are getting non-tendered left and right.

Twins put Eddie Rosario on waivers and no one claimed him. Cubs non-tendered Schwarber and Almora. Rockies and David Dahl. Etc Etc.

You could build a halfway competitive team just from the non-tendered list.

Casting call started again for the 2021 season of the show "The Masked Reliever"....

Are you a down-on-their-luck relief pitcher suffering from a couple poor seasons? Maybe you have just been constantly injured the last few years? Here's your chance to impress the LA Dodgers!

Corey Knebel, welcome to the show! Welcome back Jimmy Nelson and his broken back! Brock Stewart also coming home to his roots! Brendan Morrow, who has already won once back in 2017 will come back for another try!

Stay tuned for the full list of entrants, who will begin with their first challenge..."How much does your name make Kenley Jansen sweat?"

Actually the Dodgers are taking the right approach here. That's the way to do it with relief pitchers. Instead of investing $25 million in lol Joe Kelly, you sign a bunch of speculative retreads who have a moderate chance of being decent/good, and keep the ones who seem to pan out.

Low risk, high reward. I've always advocated this approach.

Morrow and Knebel both have some potential. Knebel is 29, which is especially appealing. Morrow is 36, but may have some gas left in the tank if he's healthy.

Brock Stewart has never gotten it going, but whatever. Jimmy Nelson's time is running out. Lots of potential, but now he's over 30 and has had a lot of major injuries. I think his window has closed.

Dodgers have Jansen signed through 2021. They will try to trot him out there, presumably, but I'm guessing he loses his job if they find a better option. I bet he leaves the team in 2022 and signs for much less money.
