I am never one to complain about service, just not my thing. I am the guy who says 'well I got shitty service but maybe they are having a tough time in life'. The other night was the exception.
I took an Uber to a nightclub, I am over 40 now so nightclubs are not my thing anymore but I was invited to a mild bachelor party, just a few friends getting together. Anyway, I got the last couple rounds of drinks it was like 11pm, and got my tab. It was exactly $100. The odds of ever getting a tab exactly $100 is like a lottery ticket odds. I joked with the bartender about it and for whatever reason he took offense. He was like 'the price of the drinks is the price'. I was like Whoaaa dude, I was merely making a comment. For the record, I don't think the bartender was skimming it was just really odd to have a check exactly $100.
So I tipped and gave the guy exactly $15 since he was a monumental d-bag. I explained to him I always tip 20% but tonight I was making an exception. Rather than taking the high road and apologizing (in which I would have reached into my pocked and given him another $5), he just gave me a 'whatever' and walked away.
So we walked away from the bar to get a better site line of the TVs, and I get a grab on my arm. Not a violent grab but still an invasion of my space. It's the bartender and he is spouts "Where is my PEN". I am like WTF are you talking about, and he said just give me my pen back and I will refund your card for your tip. Yes, I was pretty hammered but still had enough self discipline to tell the bartender I am not in the habit of stealing pens from broke mother fuckers. He walked away claiming it was bullshit I took his pen as it had sentimental value. The confrontation basically ruined the rest of the experience for the party.
Now for the record I might have accidentally flicked the pen, I don't really remember but it was like a BIC pen you get at a Walgreens. Anyway, I called the manager Saturday morning an explained the bartenders aggressive behavior and he how it ruined the rest of the night and he said he would address. He was most concerned about the arm grab and I indicated I was not injured, at least not physically. Never going back to this place.
