These guys are fucking hilarious. They did a presentation at DEFCON that was openly mocked before they could even finish, resulting in DEFCON apologizing to its members/attendants and saying they would do better to filter out grifting moron scammers in the future, resulting in TimeAI suing DEFCON for ... allowing the audience to openly call them fraudsters...? Basically?
It just gets worse from there. Their schtick is that somehow AI + prime numbers.. sorry "quasi-prime" numbers + quantum= breaks encryption.
The only thing missing is some sort of tie-in to essential oils and homeopathy.
Anyway they released this today, as 'proof':
They 'attack' a 256 bit RSA key. In a video. Using a laptop.
Beyond the fact that there is literally no credibility in a demo that takes place via a video of a laptop, 256 bit RSA was broken 20 years ago. Rarely will you find a RSA key in the wild thats less than 4096 bits and when you do, its usually a legacy key from like Windows XP and even then it's 1024 bits.
Honestly its fascinating to watch all this unfold because where scammers like Theranos had good intentions but were just totally out of their depths, these guys appear to be a core of absolute predators milking the VC community while sacrificing brainwashed pawns to the front lines of public opinion to buy time and more funding.
The wildest part is I'm not even sure any of this is illegal.
