The girlfriends parents live in a house they just finished building a year ago on Merritt Island. She's upset they won't evacuate, they think it will be fine.
Will update.

Apparently somebody forgot to inform Dorian of this rule of Hurricanes.. Granted its over water mostly anyway but shocking this thing slammed into Bahamas at 185mph gusting to 220mph and maintained that for over 12hrs and now has barely hiccuped dropping down to 170-175mph still with 200mph gusts.. Don't want to overly concern folks but any chance the PCA has problems since its 4 months away only and no telling how bad the damage is yet but hours of winds which would make a F3 Tornado blush have to be devastating.. I think the Brits are gonna have their hands full picking up the pieces of their Commonwealth partner..
Was talking to a few folks on FB I know in the Carolinas.. Theyre ready to shit a brick.. The last two years this would make #3 and it was never a wind issue that did the billions in damages it was massive flooding deluge of rain and apparently possibly 10-15" are possible along the SC and NC coast AGAIN.. This could literally break peoples backs for good Im afraid.. Some lost everything twice now and haven't been able to rebuild while others were DQd from flood insurance eligibility due to repeat claims and told if you rebuild we aren't covering you again meaning they get flooded again they have zero recourse and will lose everything this time.. Were not talking beach front homes worth upwards of a million or condos.. Those in those situations are people who live near a couple of the big bases in Eastern NC or just away from the coastal region in cheaper lower cost areas but can flood due to natural water features like the ICCW, Cape Fear River, a few decent sized lakes and the Neuse River which runs further north near Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Base which is the one that blew its banks during Florence and put 10-20ft of water in some locales not due to storm surge but just rain coming down and no place to go.. Coastal Carolinas are a bit swampy unfortunately much like the Bayous in Southern Louisana so water can take forever to drain and well theres still the 800lb elephant which is Dorian going up the coast is very much likely to be pushing a reasonable sized storm surge anyway even as a Cat 3 or still potentially 4 even since it doesn't want to follow rules and if it stays off shore over the gulf stream its gonna have definitely some heat energy to feed it and keep its engine going for awhile..
Lol at Trump he never even heard of a category 5 gonna hit mara lago resort. I hope not that would affect family then. West Palm beach airport closed for tommorow /today

That asshole Dorian’s finally decided to head more northerly. But his outermost rain band is still about 50 miles southeast of where I’m camped out here in south Georgia.
Even w a hurricane coming ain’t nobody willing to pay $8 for water
Putting things in perspective...
So far, I’ve had to deal with the minor inconvenience of having my schedule delayed this week and driving through a few spots of heavy rain yesterday as I moved the truck down I-75 closer to my deliveries on this load.
Meanwhile, a TV crew in the Bahamas interviewed a guy about my age whose wife had drowned right in front of him in the flooding waters that pummeled their home.
We had to evacuate again. Much nicer in Destin:
Unlike Florida, North Carolina was not spared Dorian’s wrath.
Hundreds stranded on Outer Banks island, 'catastrophic' flooding as Hurricane Dorian moves off coast
"We went from almost no water to 4 to 6 feet in a matter of minutes," said Steve Harris, who lives on Ocracoke Island, North Carolina.

Which reminds me that the politicians there a few years ago directed state agencies to ignore the science-based predictions of climate change when working with local governments. Hence a recent political cartoon, which might trigger someone on this forum who has been rather sensitive of late to tribally-related jabs. So, I’ve spoilered it.
NSFSC
Just so were all on record the God king emperor trump basically hand waves a tornado away
I mean there's Russian collusion aaaaand then there's Russian hurricane collusion
Also I was literally at the Charlotte airport yesterday from 4 to 6 not a drop of rain so just light work by the Pres
Also my 1 millionaire friend in chaztown South Carolina THEEEEEEYRE FINE
Timing. Was scheduled to spend a relaxing labor day weekend at Atlantis tbh. Had it all set up, sapphire suite at the cove, $900 airfare, $1k fb, limo transfers. Nice and easy. Then this fucker came and kept skirting new providence. Was to return home wed and realized that was unlikely given trajectory so just bailed on a much needed trip- aug was rough for me. Anyway planned on staying home in the rain until this bitch decided for to change up and hug the coastline. That was enough to send me to the gulf coast for the rest of the week on the wife’s employer’s dime- that’s right all paid for room, fb, and mileage for her so called evacuation. Don’t ask me but I’m grateful.
Appreciate the concern San. The bacc pit ain’t going nowhere. Until then
