What's wrong with this?
I'd need to know more about the stack sizes. If either of you weren't that deep, then you should have shoved the AK to his 3-bet.
But if you were both deep and didn't want the high variance of this shove, then check/folding the flop is correct.
If you're bothered by anything, it should be that you didn't 4-bet, but if the player knows that your UTG raise means something, there's a good chance you'd be getting yourself in trouble against a big hand which wouldn't fold anyway, so your call may have actually been the correct thing to do.
Druff I had 180$ behind, I just won a 5 way all in with my last few $ because I was getting cooled all day and lost almost all of my first buy in (300$). He had about 700 and was running really good playing trash hands but he’s a semi regular so he knows how to play.
In my mind, It really came down to the fact that my table image was shit because all day I’d raise or 3 bet, whif, fold.(about 60% of the hands went to show down and they were correct folds) I’d Raise AA,KK and I hit a few sets and folded the rivers to 4 card flushes or 4 card straights on the board.
The other thing I thought about was, if he has a 9 I only have about 24% to catch an over card and if he has a J then I was practically dead.
I really thought about shipping it in this spot because I knew he Would have called with Weaker hands but I couldn’t pull the trigger. I told my self there’s better spots to put my money in. After the hand I figured I was playing terribly, stood up and left down 120 ish
Is this enough info, I play about 3-5 times a month 1hr drive to the casino one way but never really talk about hands.
played fine
fuck em both
You got reraised before the flop. You’ve got AK, out of position, the flop didn’t hit you, the pot is fairly small. I’m folding here 90% of the time. Given how your night was going, I know I would have shoved before the flop, hoping for a call. Doubling up would get me get me healthy. Your stack is on the shorter side. Let’s gamble up!
What is your 4-betting range against a player playing almost every hand? It apparently doesn't include AK so what the fuck is it? KK+? This is the problem you need to fix, not your analysis of the flop.
You're starting the hand with only 60 big blinds but with a large opening raise and reraise it's effectively more like 40 blinds deep. Going broke with AK that shallow against a player with a very loose image is fine. I'd be jamming at least the top 50% of my UTG opening range against him, hands like JJ or AQs. Against a nit obviously you proceed with far more caution.
you guys are right I should have shipped it,
the multi way all In hand in won all in preflight with 2h 3H jamming my last 40ish into 5 players who raised 12$. One caller not said villain 3 bet to 160$, so I defiantly wouldn’t have gotten credit for AK pre.
It was missed opportunity
