There really aren't any
great eateries in that area - most serve mediocre food but have landed in a good location, so survive on tourists who have nowhere else to eat.
If you have time, why not drive over to Sedona? It's more beautiful than the Grand Canyon, a reasonable driving distance, and has some outstanding restaurants.
For restaurant ratings, I've found
Urban Spoon is pretty good, although no matter what, Internet restaurant ratings are going to steer you to some horrible places. It's a 50/50 gamble with Urban Spoon in the southwest, at least from my experience. Yelp is the worst.
If you insist on eating in the Grand Canyon area, El Tovar Dining Room (at El Tovar Hotel) is the highest rated fine dining experience in that stretch of desert. I haven't personally eaten there so no promises... I wouldn't expect anything special. But other people apparently like it and I'm pretty picky. Looks a little pricy ($15-25 per entree) if you're taking a gaggle of people - not bad if it's just you and the little lady.

The Lodge Dining Room came in third and they are more reasonably priced, but located at the North Rim... what side are you going to be on? Probably not north rim, right? You can hit Bright Angel Restaurant on the South Rim - about $10-15 per entree. Here's their menu:

Or if you are feeling super Jewy, eat at RP's Stage Stop on Highway 64 - they are rumored to make a good sandwich.
Whatever you do, avoid going in that place that has a sign up that says "Best Barbeque in the Grand Canyon" or something like that. Can't remember the name, but the food is horrible and it's the first restaurant you see as you are leaving the Canyon.
