you know what place isnt as awful as i expected it to be?

    olive garden.

those moz sticks are actually fleeked out.

i might go back for one of those ostrich egg size meatballs one of these days.

or i wont because i dont ever want to be around that many squalling infants again ever in my life.

like i think grandparents just automatically take their shitty children and sub-children to olive garden because its cheap and they serve alcohol and like actual dinners for next to nothing.

i dont know i got a lot of feelings about olive garden rn.

Okay, I enjoy ruining it for you

what is the "auto tip", cause it sounds like you're talking about the standard line informing the customer what is 15%, 20%, 25% of the total bill, etc.

it sounds like because they didn't tell you what 15% was (which is an outrageously low tip), you refused to do simple mathematics

Some places you pay at the counter on an iPad and the tips are preselected for you to choose so there is no paper receipt....they usually have an “other amount” choice but most are too lazy to pick it.

I’ll occasionally throw in a couple more bucks on a huge pot when I like the dealer. If the dealer is an asshole, he or she ain’t ever getting more than a buck from me.

I think all Americans have a love/hate relationship with Olive Garden. I’ve never had a bad meal there and the price is very reasonable, but you’ll never hear the words “let’s go to Olive Garden” coming from my mouth.

BTW, Sonatine, you know that those meatballs are made from animals. What would your Antifa friends say?

other than some burger joints, pretty much every restaurant out there uses microwaves to some degree. it's a perfectly fine form of cooking when you do it right.

what exactly do you think they are microwaving? Sauces, veggies, desserts, same shit that I microwave. Are you telling us that they microwave main courses like veal parm, and shrimp scampi, shit like that? I don't imagine that's true at all.

a couple weeks ago i heard that olive garden is offering lifetime passes of free breadsticks, soup, salad, & pasta for like $400

    edit:
i guess it's limited to the first 50 - $100 for Never Ending Pasta (for 9 weeks) with the option to get the lifetime pasta, soup, salad, & breadsticks for $400 more

Went to Applebeys they had auto tip, very prevalent . They still leave room for a tip after auto tip of 18 percent. You have to watch out for all kinds of shit like buying 7 ounce beer.

Haven't been there in many years, but many of the plates they bring to you come out hot, which otherwise doesn't make sense unless they are using microwaves to cook or partially cook the dish once it's already in the plate.

The plate was far hotter than it would get simply from hot food being in there.

Druff, a plate doesn't heat up in the microwave. Plates are hot because they keep food hot in the expo window while the rest of the order is finished. You must never have worked in a restaurant in college.

Restaurants all over the world intentionally heat their plates before plating and serving. Has nothing to do with microwaves in most cases, but has a lot to do with heat lamps and low-heat ovens before the food is ready. You don;t want to put hot food on a cold plate, for reasons that should be obvious.

You're correct that I never worked in a restaurant. I had a few other shit jobs as a teenager, but not a restaurant job.

You are incorrect about plates not heating up in the microwave. They most definitely do. Try it yourself right now. Whenever I microwave things, I often have to use oven mitts or something similar to carry the plate to the table, unless I heat something up on a paper plate.

I also have gone to many restaurants, and while the plates do come out warm, they come out hot at Olive Garden (at least during the years I went there), to the point where it was far hotter than any other Italian restaurant I had visited.

I know that at some places, such as prime steakhouses, they intentionally heat the plate to high temperatures as part of the presentation of the food (and also presumably to keep the meat warmer for longer), but I've never seen such a thing at typical restaurants.

I'd love to hear from someone who actually worked at Olive Garden. I've always strongly suspected it, but I can't prove it.

See my response I just posted above. I am not saying that the plate should be cold. I'm saying that it was unusually hot every time I went to Olive Garden.

Additionally, the food sometimes tasted microwaved.

Well, I've searched the web, and while there's a lot of suspicions posted about them microwaving their dishes, all credible-seeming reports on the matter claim that they do not microwave their food, other than things like sauces (which is fine).

So maybe my assumption was incorrect about this.

Maybe I'll be more opening to going there again, as the microwave suspicion really turned me off and I never came back.

This alone should be enough evidence that they use a specific process to specifically heat up their plates, and probably have them hotter than most places because their portions are usually ginormous.

Also, the food tastes microwaved because it is bland, mass produced, and often starts with all frozen ingredients that traveled a lot of miles, which is why it appeals to such a wide audience. I would guess, anyway.
