I know they have to back all the chips in circulation or on the floor by cash. I’ve never heard of them having to back every slot payout, though. That’s an incredibly huge amount of money. Many slots don’t even have a top or highest payout due to bonus rounds. Even just assuming the highest single line pays on slots, you’re looking at easily $20 million if not more just in a high limit room. $5 10-play UX top pay is $2.4 million. $2 10-play DSTP is $1.6 million. Top payout on that $5k/spin slot at Aria I think is $2 million (maybe 2.4?). Keno top payouts can get absolutely bonkers. $5 20-card keno would be $4 million. There’s just no possible way a casino can have that much COH. That doesn’t take into account table games, where they can have anywhere from low/mid 5 figures in the bank (like $5 6/5 BJ in the titty pit) to 8 figures on a high limit craps table (if not more?) or big table bac.
Yeah, I’ve been thinking about that statement.
No business in western civilization can have that much idle cash.
The financial wonks are going to work that problem and solve it. There was a reference to law in a previous post requiring cash on hand.
Let’s face it, gaming commissions are trade associations and can and will be lobbied. In the end the health and prosperity of the casinos is their first responsibility
So again I am skeptical but find it oddly interesting.
There was a time when people played IGT stock like a slot machine. I haven’t looked at them in years. I always thought of them as strictly a manufacturer so I’m surprised by them running pools.
