(Blackjack Documentary) Inside the Edge: A Professional Blackjack Adventure (2019 Release)

Anyone watch this? It's available on plenty of streaming sites for 99 cents (Amazon, etc.) for you can watch it at the link in the spoiler below.

The documentary is mostly telling the story of a guy KC who is an advantage card counter that travels around from casino to casino playing tons of blackjack and what he has to deal with from the casinos.

From what I've read a lot of the footage was filmed several years back but the documentary was finally released this year.

I found this as an interesting one time watch to see what he has to deal with doing what he does and haven't really researched what he is doing now but I'd assume this guy is likely banned all over to the point today he probably has a new profession.

The two guys that did this documentary were on the Gambling With an Edge podcast a little over a month ago. It was interesting hearing from them and made me want to see the movie, I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I need to put Gambling With An Edge into the rotation, mdj

Bob Dancer and the Munchkin guy. They used to be advantage blackjack but I believe they are adv video poker.

I got an invite to a free seminar they are holding now at SouthPoint. It’s a long class

When I hear these 2 names I think of the secret Black Jack Ball. That just intrigues the shit out of me.

You gotta do what you love to be successful and I just can’t embrace the advantage slot lifestyle. They’ve been Uber successful & know their stuff. Many ideas they preach you can transfer to other games and business. So there is that.

I love how SouthPoint invites them onto their property to teach. Instead of banning these people they know most wont invest the effort and it’s good action for the casino. That’s a place you want to gamble.

Go ahead and give your action to Caesars

This podcast had JeopardyJames recently. Gotta find it. James always has one good nugget about gambling

Yesterday I was browsing Amazon Prime Video and saw this was streaming so I took a flier. What a great gambling documentary!

Now that is a real advantage player - traveling across the US, grinding out his small edge, ducking the heat, battling with pit bosses, enduring wild downswings. Awesome stuff.

One thing that's annoying is the hiding of his real name. Give me a break - he's showing his face in a full-length documentary. I think you can tell us his actual name. His dad is featured in the film as well. This guy was apparently a big gambler back in the day. In the movie they show a brief clip of the dad playing backgammon in a televised tournament but they obscure his name. It didn't take much to find him. They didn't obscure the other guy's name and on the backgammon board you see it's a tournament in Monte Carlo where the world championship is held. So I just googled the other guy's name and "monte carlo backgammon" and this came up:

It's the 2005 World Championship of Backgammon final which was won by KC's father - Dennis Carlston. So that's his dad's name. I'm assuming KC's real name then is K. Carlston. Look up that name and bingo:

His name is Kyle Carlston. Looks like he plays a fair bit of tournament poker around Las Vegas.

    Anyways, highly recommended documentary.
