It was very nice to meet Druff. I even got to see him order tomatoes on the side of his meal which was like watching Lynyrd Skynyrd play Free Bird live. A true honour!

He managed to bang a number of good looking women in the dorm, despite being kinda average looking and skinny, so I'll give him props for that.

    wrench, what is Hibbing like?

Trees. Meth. Hockey. Little bit of God's Country. It's essentially the beginning of the Iron Range in MN. Major blue collar territory. Our cabin is a bit west of there near Grand Rapids. I've got a few friends there. If you're looking for Northern MN vacation destinations, Hibbing wouldn't be in the top 10.

I knew that both Bob Dylan and Kevin McHale were from Hibbing, but when I went to double check, I just found out that Roger Maris was too.

Can’t find lobster in Maine? Lol

We had a family house in Ellsworth. Bailed recently. Lotta development. Home Depot and all the shit you’re trying to escape when you go to Maine.

    Still pretty remote.

Cadillac Mtn trip and fall report?

Lotta little lobster shacks around there.

I avoided lobster in Maine because all of the restaurants "featuring" lobster looked like overpriced tourist traps, and none were particularly well rated.

Considered the whole "lobster supper" thing in PEI, but again these are huge tourist traps and not well rated (or not close to where I was at dinner time).

Cadillac Mountain was a fail. That was the day my car broke down, and the day mostly got trashed. We got to Acadia National Park, but didn't spend much time there. Cadillac Mountain's parking area was full and they wouldn't let us up.

We settled for seeing a blowhole and some scenic views elsewhere in the park.

Ellwsorth, Maine itself isn't very exciting. As Sanlmar said, it's a smallish town which isn't so small anymore, invaded by chain restaurants and Home Depot and the like.

Halls Harbour with the boats on the ground during low tide was pretty fascinating to see. We don't get tidal changes like that in California.

Didn't go to Subway with The Shrink.

He suggested a few possible places to go for lunch, and I was a nice Jew and selected what seemed like the cheapest one, even though he said he was treating me.

When I was going to ask for the tomato on the side of what I ordered, I paused for a second, realizing I was becoming a stereotype of a decade-old forum joke. Then I did it anyway.

    The lobster shack.

Some fisherman’s wife of grandpa boils your lobster fresh off a boat.

You sit on a picnic bench outside.

You ask them to crack your lobster

Simple, basic, beautiful & memorable for your heir.

Health code, licenses, global warming and warm waters

Such a thing will prolly not exist in 20 years.

    You mean this one?

Yeah that looks pretty good. Someone I didn't find it in my attempts to look for lobster places.

It was comical what kept happening. I'd find a place, go in, and find out it's only chilled lobster. Walk out. Repeat, find out it's again only chilled lobster. Get frustrated and stay anyway and order something else. Find something else which looks excellent in reviews, only to find that it's closed on the day I'm there. Find another excellent place, find out it just closed the restaurant portion and only sells wholesale lobsters now. Find another well rated place, get there, find out that they ran out of lobster, which they claimed was "very unusual". Find another place, go in, and we're told that they don't serve minors after 9pm because of their liquor license, so we couldn't come in.

    Just fail after fail.

I would've loved to have eaten at a family-owned, hole-in-the-wall place like the one you described. Hard to find these days, and the few that I did find were closed or stopped doing it.

I'm so anti-touristy stuff, I can't even begin to tell you. Especially when it comes to restaurants. There's a few exceptions, but for the most part, any place mainly geared toward tourists, I want no part of it.

One thing nice I'll say for New Brunswick -- the sights there are empty. Fundy Parkway, totally empty. Fundy National Park, totally empty. It's like you have the whole place to yourself.

Druff probably wasn’t aware of the effect meeting Chappie in person likely had on his psyche, but a telltale sign is there for the keen of eye.
