    That does surprise me.

Do you find yourself criticizing product quality? With a nod to Druff, how do you find customer service on the whole?
Food quality is quite low. Good produce can be found in expensive supermarkets but sanctions make it difficult and costly. What other products are you interested in? Most stuff here is made in China, just like everywhere else in the world.

Customer service overall is quite good but I've literally never asked for an alteration to a meal or anything on the side in my life. Druff would get a strange look for such a request, I'm sure. Overall - I can't complain (plus, nobody bothers me during my meal to ask me how it is, so that's even better than the west). Everything gets done well and gets done fast, just don't expect them to do it with a fake smile like you see in the US.

    Here’s an odd question.

Do you like Russia? Do you regard it as a tour of duty you must endure? Do you dream about the day you can leave? Perhaps you like it.

Favorite place in the world - Gun to Head.

There was a Englishman who did YouTube vids about daily life in Japan. Differences in culture and behavior on a daily basis. It was excellent. I need to find an example.

Tonight’s train. This time an old third class carriage, unlike the last one (modern, 2nd class)

When I look at that picture I can only imagine the horrific smells that must pass through your nasal passage . Great thread otherwise . Truly enjoying it .

This carriage stinks of sweat. In the daytime when people are eating and drinking they normally stink of pot noodle (doshirak), sunflower seeds (semki) and cheap beer (baltika).

Do the windows open? Also looking out the window above the woman is that a place you can go out like a stoop?

    First is private cabin
Second is a 4 person cabin
Third is open train, like this

There are other perks like provided meals and stuff like that but it depend on the train and route

Yes the windows open. Outside is a platform, we’re in a station.

So I decided to go off the beaten path on my trip and go to a city i've been told is the one of the worst in Russia. And they weren't wrong - it's a dump.

Was greeted of the train by classic russian gopniks, adidas tracksuits and all

The city is Chelyabinsk, which is most famous nowadays for being the site of metorite landing in 2013. The largest remaining fragment is in a museum.

This trip report is of EPIC proportion. I cant get enough. The current city seems to me like any typical american inner city . May I ask why so many Volvo's and or Volkswagen vehicles? Also there seems to be a huge difference in age of the vehicles between some pictures almost like you either have a bunch of money and can afford a newer car or you drive what appears to be something from the early 80's? The buildings to me are very interesting . Keep the pics and reports coming . Big Fan .

Moscow is way worse for this. Porsche, BMW, Lambo, Tesla... next to 40 year old Lada

Awesome Photo's . One common theme in today's pictures . I can't find a single piece of trash laying anywhere in any picture? The flowers and grass seem immaculate . I am also wanting to ask. I have seen some adverts clearly in English is that common? You must be having an incredible time. The history is incredible.

Yeah cities in the centre are really clean, it’s great. Suburbs aren’t the same though.

There are some adverts in English but they use very basic words or words which sound basically the same in Russian. It just seems “cool” and “western”. Marketing tactic.
