I've been waiting a long time to do radio, first delayed by my long WSOP Main Event run (good) and then by a cold which showed up 30 hours after I returned home (bad).

Obviously a lot to talk about. Last show was on July 7th, when I was past day 2 of the Main with fairly good chips, but not anywhere near in the money yet. Lots of stuff has happened since then, both involving my own Main Event experiences and various other stories in poker and gambling.

I'm not completely better. This cold was awful for the first 5 days (the worst one I've had in at least 2 years), but every day since then the symptoms have lessened, and I think I'll be good enough to do radio by tomorrow night.

Interestingly, I made it through the entire WSOP without getting a bit sick (and keep in mind I was there for 5 of the 7 weeks, constantly touching the filthy chips), and then I was sick just a day after returning home. I think it's likely I caught something in Vegas at the very end of my time there, and symptoms showed up the next day. At least it didn't affect the Main or any of my other poker play. This one was pretty brutal and brought on terrible fatigue and body aches with it.

Druff, as you spent only the first year of the earlier part of your life in the Northeast, it’s understandable that you wouldn’t know how to pronounce the names of certain locales there. For example, the town of Reading in Massachusetts is pronounced “Reh-ding”, not “Ree-ding”. In other words, the first syllable rhymes with “bread”, not “breed”.

But don’t feel alone. There are even more ridiculous local pronunciations of the names of places there relative to what someone not familiar with the local pronunciation would find phonetically confusing. This vid covers a few.
