Tweet URL:Finished with 93500, which I have to imagine is close to average chips from Day 1B of the Main. Few big decisions, not much drama. Didn't win or lose any big pots. That was also about my high in chips.
We return Saturday at 11am, hopefully no earthquake that day.

Day 1 of the Main Event (1B) for me was mostly uneventful.
Started off with what appeared to be a GREAT table full of recs, but couldn't capitalize it, as I kept losing hands, incuding a QQ versus AA which I bailed out on the turn. The other problem was that they were raising unusually big preflop, so every hand got way too expensive.
The open seats ended up being filled by mostly good players, but I slowly built my stack back up.
No big hands really, though I did have quads and somewhat get paid. I was never close to all in, other than putting short stacks all in.
One player no-showed, but he gets a refund, so it's not as bad as you think.
Aaron Mermelstein, who I just talked about on the last radio show, showed up a few hours in to my direct right. He ended up with just 19k, and interestingly folded to preserve his last 12k or so after investing 5k and getting 4-bet by me all-in. (I had KK in the hand, and he later told me had had AK.)
I finished with 93500, near my high, from a starting stack of 60k.
Blinds on Day 2, which starts in 8 hours, will be 400/800/800, meaning I'm still well over 100 bigs.
It looks like about 8200-something players entered so far, but people can also enter on Day 2, so those numbers aren't final.
From Day 1A and 1B, 3248 entered (combined), and 2383 survived (73.36%).
This puts average stack at around 81800, meaning I'm a little bit above.
However, I'm way above on the list -- 830th out of 2383, and even average chips would be 1033rd.
All pretty meaningless right now. Cashing won't happen, most likely, until early Day 4, which will be July 9.

Here's the seating list: http://www.wsop.com/pdfs/reports/172...TS-BY-SEAT.pdf
I will not play with Day 1C people unless I make Day 3.
Kevin Killeen DUBLIN, IE 93,200 Amazon / 412 / 1
Peter Rho LAS VEGAS, NV, US 88,200 Amazon / 412 / 2
Todd Witteles LAS VEGAS, NV, US 93,500 Amazon / 412 / 3
Brian Kim WALNUT, CA, US 98,000 Amazon / 412 / 4
Gary Patanjo EAST PATCHOGUE, NY, US 56,500 Amazon / 412 / 5
Jerod Smith TROY, IL, US 104,700 Amazon / 412 / 6
Eric Gong BAYSIDE, NY, US 141,200 Amazon / 412 / 7
Bassem Masri WHITEHALL, PA, US 63,100 Amazon / 412 / 8
Lucas Picking NORTH BRUNSWICK, NJ, US 12,000 Amazon / 412 / 9
Table draw is average overall, given the rec-heavy field.
Brian Kim is a decent LA player, Peter Rho has over a million in lifetime cashes and is solid (I've played with him before), Kevin Killeen is a good Euro player with a million in cashes, and all of them are roughly euqal to me in chips. (Fortunately I have position on Kevin and Peter.)
Jerod Smith has some results but mostly at smaller events, so he might not be that aggressive here.
Gary Patanjo appears to be a rec. Erc Gong, the table chip leader, appears to be a rec.
Bassem Masri also appears to be a rec, but interestingly the most google results for him come up regarding his November 2018 death! Apparently a Bassem Masri was a somewhat known Ferguson protester, and was "found unresponsive on a bus" in November. This Bassem Masri is unknown.
Lucas Picking is an east coast player with some results, but he has a tiny stack and will need to get lucky to stay around very long.
