Playing poker is not the easiest lifestyle. Lots of sitting and lots of bad choices for food- pizza etc. Not to mention drugs and booze.

That being said, the space between poker rooms gives lots of space for walking. He could start with a half mile a day and the pounds would fly off!

I think with Gobbo, it's probably a combination of bad genes, lack of exercise, and overeating.

Even if I tried, I couldn't get to his weight.

The exercise thing becomes difficult once you get to a certain size, though, so it's really difficult to get going at first.

You also don't lose nearly as much weight exercising as you think (especially when older), so overeating will negate a lot of it. It actually takes regular, strenuous exercise to melt off the pounds. For example, when I joined the high school cross country team, and we ran 4-10 miles per day, that brought my weight down a lot (though I was also young).

90% of weight control has to do with diet. Sure, exercise is great for your body and long term fitness. But if we're talking strictly weight loss, diet is the key.

Remember Gilligans Island and the Skipper? Used to think he was sooooooo fat back then. it is stange how rampant obesity changes how people look at reality, now the Skipper is low normal size in today's society. Sad.

Gobbo is from Illinois, he probably doesn't even know what proper pizza is.

And LOL that the best pizza exists anywhere west of Brooklyn. Most likely, it lives in some shithole in CT.

I'm actually 408 hasn't attempted to return here at some point over the past several years.

I never banned him. He just left.

Anyway, I'm sure Gobbo has heard about his weight constantly from well-meaning people, and for whatever reason, he isn't doing anything about it. I know it's tough, but the truth is that when you're morbidly obese, you are putting your health at major risk. There's a huge health difference between being 50 pounds overweight and hundreds.

Gobbo has plenty of friends in poker and seems to be generally well liked. I did find it kind of disturbing how his mom used to post on 2+2. How many other poker pros had their mom posting on forums? I can't think of one.

Given that he was "also quite young" when he got into poker, and was obese back then, his mom does deserve a lot of the blame regarding letting it happen. If you see your kid becoming a very unhealthy weight, you need to intervene and do something about it. She apparently didn't.

Pizza? Why the fuck would you order pizza in Vegas? No fucking reason. You only order pizza when the only other choice is Subway.

If Eggslut is open thats where you go. End of story.

    Huge letdown.

    Pizza was just okay.

It was rectangular. Got the "regular" size which was about equivalent to a 14" pizza.

Not terrible, but not good or memorable.

Crust was also burnt, but that wasn't even the problem. It just wasn't anything special.

Disappointed in Gobbo for this one.

Tradershky reminded me on radio last night that Pizza Rock downtown is actually the best pizza in Vegas. I've had it before, and I agree.

This could be a sugar in Dirty Harry's coffee type scenario. Gobbo is being held under duress but allowed to tweet so that everything seems normal.

Pizza Rock makes very good pizza. It’s one of Tony Gemigiani’s restaurants. Tony is literally the rock star of the pizza world. Multiple world championships to his name. He has a smaller location called Little Tony’s in the Palace Station.

I’ve never been but Metro Pizza is supposed
To be pretty good also. They have multiple locations in Vegas. The owner, John Arena, is a a world champion pizza maker and usually leads seminars at the Pizza Expo.

Do you think any of these joints would hire Jewdonk?
