Playing 1000/2500/2500. Early makes it 6k. I have AKhh on button, make it 17k. SB with about 88k total makes it 37k. Folded to me. I think he has AA. Talk myself into shoving after clock called on me.

    He had AA.

Flop KKT. Ouch! Up to 273k. #pfa03 #oops

Here was the offending hand. Not proud. Knew he had AA and called it off anyway. In my defense, it was only 70k more and I did have AKhh. #pfa03 https://t.co/xapfwP9Swb

Limp-reraised by SB to my BB, then he check-raised 862cc flop all in. Ugh. Folded. Then I lost 15k next hand. Down to 208k. #pfa03

Not thrilled with the end of the level, which ate over 1/4 of my stack. At dinner break with 199k. Guy to my right loves to check raise people. Be back a little after 9pm. #pfa03

Dream hand, getting it all in AA vs QQ pre for big stacks. Board ran out J77T9, and I'm up to 509k as the end of the day nears. #pfa03

Don't look at the chip counts because those include Day 2A players (running 5 hours so far). With 682k, I'm probably about 70% of the Day 1C chip lead. I'm guessing. #pfa03

Looks like I'm probably going to be about the 75th best Day 1 finisher out of about 24,000 entries, when the Day 1s are all done!

    Excellent day!

The two highlights were cracking AA with AK suited all in pre (well, all in for him, I still had half my stack), and much later, getting it all in pre with AA versus a decent sized stack's QQ, and the AA holding.

Other than one hand where a 50-something fat foreign dude owned my soul by check raising me TWICE (limp-reraised SB/BB, then check-raised flop, before I laid it down), I did an excellent job reading when these people missed hands and taking down pots where I missed too.

The AK suited against AA hand was weird. We were playing 1000/2500/2500, and early opened to 6k. I made it 17k on button. SB, a 50-something black dude who was decent but fairly straightforward, made it 37k. He only had 50k behind that, so this was a really tough spot. Basically had to all-in or fold this one, because he would have a good deal less behind than was already in the pot when the flop was dealt, if I just called. I got the strong feeling from several factors that he had AA. I also knew 100% he wasn't squeezing. He had SOME real hand. But could I really lay down AK suited here, given that I had about 180k total, and would still have a decent 90k or so if I lost? I also only had to put in about another 70k. Someone lol called the clock on me after a surprisingly short time, and I decided to throw caution to the wind and shoved it. He snapped and turned over AA. Was super mad at myself because I knew it was AA and put the chips in anyway.

Then KKT flop, and the table gasped, and that was that for him.

Some of the recs at the table were shocked that I took so long to decide with AK suited to put the chips in, remarking that they would have done it quickly and without thought. I told them that I knew he had AA but talked myself out of folding.

That was the only bad beat I put down. I did turn someone with another AK suited against JJ in a race, but that pot wasn't as big, and honestly you can't say winning a race on the turn is a bad beat.

The warehouse was super awful though.

It was a storage room across from the buffet. Eventually it might become a restaurant or something, but at the moment it's an abandoned store space used as a warehouse. There were even crates in there.

Because they don't want to waste AC in that room, they actually had fucking garbage bags over the AC units, and nobody was removing them. These were about 25 feet up, so no way to just tear them off easily.

Laughably, they claimed they put in a "ticket" to facilities to do it -- YESTERDAY. Uh huh.

It was incredibly hot, stuffy, and crowded in there. Everyone was miserable. Dreadful conditions to be playing at a bracelet event. At least force facilities to get the fuck down there and fix the AC.

I got moved out of the warehouse with about 2 hours left in the day.

One other tilting thing was the breaks. The levels were 50 minutes long and there were FAR too many breaks (once every 100 min of play). We ended up breaking over 3 hours total! WTF

The lines were brutal and the registration was completely bungled and mismanaged. I'll talk about it more on radio.

Even mild-mannered Mark Gregorich and Joe Tall got on the WSOP's case about this. These two guys almost never start drama over anything.

    Anyway, more later.

I'm in the Pokernews Day 1C recap, in case you care.

I've got a LOOOOOOOOONG way to go before anything meaningful is happening. I'll still be battling with almost 5000 people who survived Day 1. But great start for sure.

I'm 23rd in chips from today's flight. A little further down than I thought, but I was close. I'm assuming 6000 or so played, but they didn't list that for some reason. 1504 remain. I think cash will be at about 900th or so.

Here's my Day 2C draw, which takes place Monday at 10am:

    Adrian Gallardo Tustin, CA, US 121,000 Pavilion / 133 / 2
    Nicholas Boyd Cary, NC, US 209,000 Pavilion / 133 / 3
    Jeff Edmonds Onl CA 258,000 Pavilion / 133 / 4
    Joseph Johno O'FALLON, IL, US 70,000 Pavilion / 133 / 5
    Steven Mansker Muncie, IN, US 155,000 Pavilion / 133 / 6
    Todd Witteles LAS VEGAS, NV, US 682,000 Pavilion / 133 / 7
    Joshua Taylor Sparta, TN, US 78,000 Pavilion / 133 / 8
    Zachary Moore Troy, NC, US 307,000 Pavilion / 133 / 9
    Robert Givens Latham, , AT 86,000 Pavilion / 133 / 10

I don't know any of these people, except for one (who I won't name), who happens to be a PFA Radio listener. He can out himself if he likes.
